Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

While cleaning up my engine compartment ac hoses. Anyone know what it is?

Yep! That's what it is. It senses engine compartment temperature and turns on the engine compartment fan when needed.

POST 4Original post

As said above, that is a temperature sensor for the engine bay fan. There is a rubber grommet that it fits into, clipping it into the plastic intake manifold. That holds it suspended above the head. Last time I ordered that rubber grommet, the part number was 958 606 530 00.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, now that I know what it is, what do I have to remove to replace it? Hopefully only the positive jump port.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looks like it is between the rear two intake runners, correct?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Found the repair link on Pelican parts. Ty all.

You don't need to remove anything. I prefer to unplug the sensor and install it and then plug the wire connector in. In my experience you need to first install the grommet in the manifold, then install the sensor in the grommet. A little bit of lubricant can help a lot with the second part of this, so you don't dislodge the grommet and lose it in the bowels of the engine. It can be hard, if not impossible, to find. Don't ask how I know this... Yes, correct. As in the picture I posted above. Great. Good luck. If all goes well, this is a 5 minute project.
