My 2 cents: take advice from people who have used an oven to remove a headlight lens, not people who speculate about it without having done it.

I used their technique and parts (Morimoto) for a bi-xenon HID projector on a prior vehicle.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

i havent taken the housings out of the car yet, i didnt know if the quick detatch system used any special connectors, etc that may suffer/warp if overheated
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

any help would be appreciated
I have the same burnt lens issue in mine, and it makes the front end of the car look like Sh*t. Do you have a link or reference as to how to get these replaced? I'd love to see how it's done.
Not porsche specific, but here is a video from The Retrofit Source (TRS), who are one of the companies that sell upgrade parts for headlights:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=anN0vYBj6Uo
Around 1:10 he says 270 degrees for 7 minutes.
I used their technique and parts (Morimoto) for a bi-xenon HID projector on a prior vehicle. I lined a baking sheet with foil and used the kitchen oven. I ended up having to put it in for another cycle, since it cools while you are working on it. When it first comes out the plastic parts are pretty soft. I used thin mechanics gloves and a towel on the countertop.
I think the sealant is butyl rubber, not silicone. They sell rolls of it at TRS. Youll want to get some for reassembly.

These are the lenses I bought:

Just realized that the instructions say 180 Degrees F for 4-5 hours!?
I'd much rather raise the temp and drop the time if it doesn't affect the electronics on the housings.

DGI...veer from instructions with caution. Those instructions are probably written from experience, and with warranty in mind.
wyovino...good tip! The rack will be much hotter than the air the thermo registers.
My 2 cents: take advice from people who have used an oven to remove a headlight lens, not people who speculate about it without having done it.
There are lots of sources on the internet for this same job, even some 996 specific ones.
I posted TRS because they do this all the time - lots of the do it yourself videos unnecessarily complicate an otherwise simple job.
This is yet another project where the fear of the project is more daunting than the actual work once you do it.
It isn't hard - it is messy (because of the adhesive) - but not difficult. Tons of people have had headlights apart to modify them, there are forums dedicated to it. I'm sure you can get some additional advice from knowledgable people that have actually done the job many times.
Risk of "melting" isn't a big deal if you keep the temperatures reasonable - you're just warming it enough to soften the strong adhesive used to bond the lens and shell. Without the heat, I doubt you could get the lens off without breaking it.
You don't need wood, the rack doesn't get hot enough to destructively melt anything.
Despite the printed directions, heating should take minutes, not hours, you're not dehydrating jerky.
Again, I've only done it once, on a non-996, but that experience tells me that people are making much more of this than is necessary.
You might want to confirm your oven temp is accurate as I've had a few that where not. The lower temp and longer set time makes sense to me, you want that glue to get good and soft without melting your headlight lenses.
I've just done 4 gen one headlights in the last 2 weeks one set hid and the other halogen. As far as I could tell the housings and the lenses are the same the only difference is the projector and the rear cover. I took the bulbs and transformers out of the hid set before I baked them
The first set I did at 225 for 10 mins. DO NOT DO THIS. 225 is ok for most of the plastics but is too hot for the reflectors for the turn signals and they will distort. You can't really tell once the lights are back together but you will know and it will kill you a little inside.
I did the second set at 200 for 10 mins and did not have the same issues with the reflectors distorting. Be forewarned removing the lenses is not for the faint of heart they are extremely stubborn especially to get started and you will damage the housings when you pry against them. I followed the youtube guide wyovino posted above.
Wow!... He's not much of a videographer is he? Jeezzz half of the things he tries to show you are out of the frame!
It's hard to believe some of the stuff people post online... I guess you get the gist of it sooo
