Is my ignition switch going bad? About once every 10 to 15 starts, I turn it over and absolutely nothing as if the battery is dead. I turn it off and turn over again it immediately starts up. I have a new starter and Y cable. 2003 996 C2 Cabriolet 90k

How does the switch feel when you turn the key? Is there some resistance, or backpressure on the first turn from off? Usually there will be increasing resistance on the switch when you start to turn it. But - more than likely this is the ign switch going bad. The good news is that this is a proactive repair, low cost, and not too hard to do if you have small hands. If you don't have small hands, find someone who does to help.
