Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello! I was lucky enough to get this lovely 2002 996 C4 Cab as my first car as a steal! I bought it with 144k miles and with no records on the car aside from the Carfax which details a clean history and having 2 previous owners. Slightly worried about the IMS bearing but having put on nearly 5k miles on the car since I started driving I believe that it is fine. I have been daily driving the car through what I can only describe as the most mild New York winter I can imagine. I posted some pics below. Let me know what you think!

POST 4Original post

Congrats....may i ask what wast the price of that steal?

POST 5Original post

Wow. 144K miles! Awesome. Looks very clean. Congrats!

Sure, I was able to get this car for 14.8k may not have been quite a steal, but considering that its been daily driven and not had any issues it feelsworth every penny!

That was a good price. But if it feel like it was a steal, then it was! Now get out and drive it!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You know it! Fuel costs are starting to clean out my wallet

POST 10Original post

Very nice. Congrats. Did I read that right? This is your first car?

POST 12Original post

Nice car, congrats! I’ve always liked a blue top on a silver car. Is the interior blue also?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep, Its one heck of an experience. I bought the car with bald tires too so learning when the car is about to spin out was real fun especially with PSM being turned off

Wow. I sure didn't make enough money delivering papers, when it came time to buy my first car. Be careful. You don't want to slide off the road and damage your new car. Why was the PSM off?

I was being overly confident and stupid (I keep PSM on since I learned it only kicks in when you mess up). But I also never really pushed the car much, just puttered around at the speed limit. Now in the big empty parking lots its a different story Not going to lie it was a worthwhile experience since I learned a lot about how the car feels and now being on fresh rubber with PSM on I know the car better. Hopefully that translate to a better autocross time!

Now ain't that the truth!

POST 19Original post

Congrats! She's a beauty... Quite a car for a "kid" Just remember that these things need to be maintained. If you don't do your own work, start learning now, or it won't just be your wallet that's cleaned out. Hopefully you've got access to tools and a garage. Seeing as you bought it at a decent price, and it's your first car, if you maintain it properly (keep all the receipts/documentation) you should be able to get a fair amount of your money back. Good luck

I am happy to share! I'll post em as soon as I can! Yep, I am an avid mechanic, lucky for me my highschool has a garage and I am the president of the auto club, also helps that my teacher is an air cooled 911 owner himself! Also, I learned about the issue of maintenance on this car the hard way, If you are interested in hearing about that let me know! Thanks! I am loving every minute in it! Now I begin the hunt for a matching hardtop!
