I got rid of the pumpkins on mine and replaced the amber front turn signal for the ones that are silver but blink amber.

I bought some clear side markers to replace the orange OEM's.

Long and short, I have a friend at the Porsche dealership that swapped them out with a set he had laying around, then I put them back on when I got through inspection.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I bought some clear side markers to replace the orange OEM's.
I couldn't believe what a huge difference they made for a cost of $50 from PelicanParts.
Before and after:
Super nice with the gray!
I was wondering if I should get them for my black C4 ... anyone done the replace on a black car that can post pics? I need help deciding?
Thanks
Explain why you don't like the pumpkins. Is it because it kind of dates the car? I think they look good as they are. In fact I prefer amber to the clear markers. Now a great mod would be to have the clear ones light up steady (not flashing) as the indicator comes on to show into the entrance of a street in the dark. Do any of the later models have this feature? Anyone know?
I'm one of the few who suggest leaving the orange side markers alone - IMHO, they look good.
Also, preservation and originality are important to many Porsche owners (like me!).
Ha! This is funny! I have clear side markers on my 02 Silver C4S. When I took it to DMV for title trans and inspection they wouldn't pass it because Delaware requires amber side markers. I was really surprised to hear that a factory car (my car is totally stock) wouldn't pass "as is". I told them nothing had been changed on the car and the guy in the inspection line told me they were "aftermarket". Long and short, I have a friend at the Porsche dealership that swapped them out with a set he had laying around, then I put them back on when I got through inspection. I think they look better on grey/silver cars than the amber ones, but it's definitely a personal thing.
They look like crap.. Thats only because I have the pumpkins on mine haha. Amber flashers are better seen in daylight and nightime. No mistaking them for anything else but a turning signal. Retro man retro.. lol
The real mod after the clear lights are the bulbs!!
I'm playing around with different LED side marker bulbs at the moment. I don't want them to be too flash but I still want to go with the cool white look to match the headlights... due to the angle of the bulb, you need one with at least 120 degrees to span out evenly.
You all know that the clear side markers come with AMBER bulbs, right? They blink amber!
Depends on the car color. I like the non-pumpkins on silver, white, and definitely red. All others are OK with the amber markers.
I got rid of the pumpkins on mine and replaced the amber front turn signal for the ones that are silver but blink amber. A very easy amberectomy as Ed would call it. There is no amber to be seen in the headlamps

I am also from the school of Ed who personally showed me how to do a Amberectomy on headlights....I have it done om my996 and 986 with silverized amber bulbs to hide even the hint of amber through the lens. My markers are heavy smoke on 996 and clear on 986 with silverized bulbs
