Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Didnt bother droping the pan (I will eventually), this tells me that I need to drop the engine and inspect and likely replace chain tensionners, I plan to inspect both sides while I am at it, and will likely replace bank 1 even if deviation is within specs, if I see even minimal wear on the pads.
Leading evidence: 'Inspect sides while i am at it, and will likely' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Inspect sides while i am at it, and will likely' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I would add coolant reservoir replacement to your list, since it is such a bitch to replace with the engine in the car.

Take care of deviation issue, run car and confirm it is back into specifcations, then eventually address the IMS later on (I will likely look at complete rebuild in 2-3 years when car will be over 100,000KM, I drive it 3,500KM per summer)
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello everyone,
I have been studying this site since I took ownership of my 2001 C2 Cab 4 years ago, and I have taken lots of precautions as well as following many recommendations by fellow rennlister..
Now at 94,500 KMs, last fall before storage for the winter, I have noticed an issue that requires immediate attention.
Deviation Bank 1 : -1.72
Deviation Bank 2 : -8,47
Doing the oil change this weekend, upon inspection of the filter, about 20 or so dark plastic chips of 1mm size on average, oil is DT40 since I took ownership.
Magnetic plug had no metal residue on it, nor I have seen in the filter.
Didnt bother droping the pan (I will eventually), this tells me that I need to drop the engine and inspect and likely replace chain tensionners, I plan to inspect both sides while I am at it, and will likely replace bank 1 even if deviation is within specs, if I see even minimal wear on the pads.
So I am now preparing by completing my toolkit for an engine drop (lift bars, engine stand), since I need garage space I plan to do this work in the spring when I will be able to leave to car outside and work on the engine in my garage.
While the engine is out, I plan also to do other prenventive changes :
AOS
Clutch
and IMS (I have no way to confirm if it was changed or I have original)
Looking at options on IMS, I will need to make a call between LN Retrofit or LN Solutions, now if I follow the qualification procedures, the car would not pass because of bank 2 deviation, but since the engine will be out and I am addressing the issues (now I know there is not 100% certainty) should I :
Take care of deviation issue, run car and confirm it is back into specifcations, then eventually address the IMS later on (I will likely look at complete rebuild in 2-3 years when car will be over 100,000KM, I drive it 3,500KM per summer)
Or
Doing all the work at the same time?
Thoughts?
Thanks
If it were mine, I would do the IMS Solution while the engine was out if the bores looked fine from below.
I would also do Porsche composite water pump, thermostat, and maybe RMS.
+1
Once engine is out, no reason not to do this - it's quick, easy & cheap.
I'd also take a close look at the following, and replace if any issues are noted:
Engine mounts
Transmission mount
Coolant reservoir
Thanks, I can wrench and I am very very good at following instructions and procedures (over 25+ years managing IT operations got my brain wired a weird way), for this kinda work I usually take a week off to concentrate on the tasks
Engine mounts were done 2 years ago, I have the Function First transmission inserts but wouldnt be a bad idea to do them as well, coolant thanks also done
So are sparkplugs, coils and tubes (last winter)
