This is not a probability of success.

I ask because I will be trading in a clean 99 m3 convertible with 28k miles for it and hope that the value would hold or even increase in a couple years when I go to sell.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hello everyone, Ive been waffling between 996tt or 996 c4s and it seems the 996tt has increased in value, or at least asking prices have gone up ~7-9k in the last year. The c4s prices seem to be slowly creeping up as well. Following the trend on 993 turbos, then c2s, then c4s all increasing respectively... will the c4s do the same? I ask because I will be trading in a clean 99 m3 convertible with 28k miles for it and hope that the value would hold or even increase in a couple years when I go to sell. the car Im looking at has 63k on the odometer, x51 cabriolet. 6 spd, factory sport echaust(valved). No accidents, but it had an engine misfire and a Porsche dealer replaced: intake lifter, camshaft and lifter actuator as well as a new clutch within the last year. Thank you for your input!

POST 2Original post

You should be fine retaining it's value (depending on what you pay) though they are starting to inch up as word is out...996=best value for a sportscar today!

POST 3Original post

I used to think a lot about value when I bought my own low mile C4S coupe last year. I do keep the car well-maintained and have detailed service records, which I know helps with value. That said, I dont really think about it anymore because it takes away from the enjoyment of the car. I drive it every day and love putting miles on this car! If its any consolation, 996s are at or near the bottom of the depreciation curve, so you wont lose much value if you dont see any appreciation.

POST 4Original post

Drive both and buy the one you like driving more - the turbo and the GT cars will always rein supreme though...
