Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I visited a beautiful Porsche only repair shop today for some parts I purchased and the owner gave me an informational tour as well as some great advice on 996's: "You bought one of the best cars for performance and price, drive it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just joined after a few months of reading, gaining 996 info. Last fall I bought my 1999 Ocean blue coupe and absolutely love it. Car is exactly what I wanted : lightly optioned, manual, dark blue with graphite, around 26,000 miles. First Porsche Ive owned, long time fan. I almost bought a new 944 back in 1983/84, looked at several well worn 356 and 911s over the years. Finally the time was right. Ill be searching here for info as it comes up and hope to help out. Right now Im looking for shop recommendations in SWFL and will be researching tires since mine are getting a bit old. Thanks guys

POST 2Original post

Knew pics were needed... strike 2

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, unless about 4 sets of the same pics show up, Im on strike 6. Will try again later. Is there a waiting or post count needed before adding pictures?

I had problems last night, you might be using the 'attachment' icon, there is a different photo icon and it seemed to work better for me

Congrats on the new ride. Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can assist with any future part needs. I'm attaching a link to our site's DIY tech articles on the 996 platform - these will be very helpful if you're planning on working/maintaining the car yourself. https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/996_tech.htm

Ok, now wait a minute. You can not throw out that you have a track-dedicated 996 and no details? How about a build thread?

Thanks for your interest! I didn't spec the car. It was essentially already built from DeMan's parts bin, but he has a pretty top spec parts bin. Working from memory: -- Stock engine with upgraded IMS, deep sump, X51 headers. semi-solid mounts, 3rd (center) radiator -- Ohlins remote reservoir dampers, GT3 LCAs, GT3 swaybars, Tarett links, camber plates -- Calipers from a PCCB / GT3 with DeMans own GT3 rotors + Pagid pads, GT3 master cylinder -- Fire suppression system -- Recaro Halo driver; Recaro Profi SPG XL passenger seat with Schroth harnesses -- Fully caged -- Forgeline wheels with Hoosier R7s and another set with Hoosier H2Os Minor changes to get into Spec 996 but should be good for PCA H-class (I think). For now, it's a DE car until I get a good handle on it (I haven't had it out yet).

That is a perty one newblue! Congrats I'm a first time owner (less than a year old with mine) and having a ball at 52 years old! I visited a beautiful Porsche only repair shop today for some parts I purchased and the owner gave me an informational tour as well as some great advice on 996's: "You bought one of the best cars for performance and price, drive it. Don't be afraid to run it through the gears at high rpms. That's what these cars are designed for and they will last." I love mine and you will love yours!!!!!!!! and I ain't gonna baby it either (but not race it...…….intentionally,lol )
