I was looking to change the stock 996 ****, like the RUF one but 400.00 seems steep to me.

Porsche's Exclusive Options **** uses a set screw, which makes it very secure, and the leather is an OE match.

The bezel snaps in using the same tabs as the original **** & gaiter did, and the **** is secured with a set-screw (which I find comforting for those 'enthusiastic' moments).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was looking to change the stock 996 ****, like the RUF one but 400.00 seems steep to me. Are there any other options? Anyone have something different ?
Best thing to do is keep your eyes peeled on the F/S section and ebay. Anything with a RUF name on it is steep....but then you'll have something with the RUF name.
I'd go for a pistol grip **** from a 70's Dodge Superbird. Now that would be unique.
I like this one Very Much

Alcantara feels really good in your Hands and is Grippy and Sweat Resistant... But I'm very happy with my Stock Shifter

I had a superbee, not bird with a pistol grip.. lets leave that to a muscle car. I was looking to stay stock and i will search suncoast for some options. Thanks
Oh by the way, the Rennline doesn't fit a B&M short shift, You have to bore it out a bit. They make it too tight a fit, the B&M short shift is slightly larger then the stock shifter.
No issues with the 997 shift **** falling off! I think there was a Top Gear episode where **** came off a 997, but I don't think there's a history of it. At any rate, the **** is pretty tight on my 996.

Standard 996 ***** were friction fit. Porsche's Exclusive Options **** uses a set screw, which makes it very secure, and the leather is an OE match. I'm thrilled with the combination of the Exclusive **** and the SSK. The stack height is significantly reduced, and it feels great to use. The non-carbon fibre version of the Exclusive **** is pretty dear, but less than $400.
No close-up, but this will give you an idea.
The ****, gaiter and silver bezel are all one piece. The bezel snaps in using the same tabs as the original **** & gaiter did, and the **** is secured with a set-screw (which I find comforting for those 'enthusiastic' moments).
