Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POSTED JAN 21 2019: I have a 2001 996 Carrera 3.4 coupe.... Can I use the front strut shock assemblies from a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible six speed RWD to replace the ones in my car? That's one issue; another - the speedometer gauge has a cluster of orange pixels under and next to the normal readout - is that repairable? (How?) Or do I have to replace the whole cluster? Thanks

POST 2Original post

It would look to be ok. Simple search on some parts sites shows the same part number for each car.

POST 4Original post

I am pretty sure the convertible uses different springs and shocks than the coupe. For sure it does on the rear, not 100% sure on the fronts. Is your 2001 a C2 or C4? That would also be different for a C4.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Embarrassed to say I'm not 100% sure. It's a rear-wheel drive car only, tho, so that means C2, right?
