Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

After a year of looking I finally pulled the trigger on this very clean 1999 Carrera Cab with a 6 spd manual with just under 57K miles.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

After a year of looking I finally pulled the trigger on this very clean 1999 Carrera Cab with a 6 spd manual with just under 57K miles. Its my first 911 and I freaking love it!
Im the 4th owner and the car is completely stock. It doesnt appear the IMS was replaced, and I dont think Im going to replace it right now. Hopefully that doesnt bite me :/
So, I think Im more in the caretaker mindset with this car since its stock. Im focused on fixing the little things that are wrong (ie no reverse lights, horn not working).
The day I picked it up:

Different people have different priorities. I would do all the required maintenance work on the car first and then think of any mods. It takes a bit of time to get to know your car and whether any area of mod is more preferable to you. Common items of course are the exhaust, suspension, and as far as Porsches are concerned the sky is NO-LIMIT when it comes to mods. Personally, I would get the IMS issue resolved. The thought of knowing and driving it with this potential problem will definitely prevent me from enjoying it.
On the reverse lights, if the bulbs and sockets are good, the reverse sensing switch is in the end (toward the front of the car) of the transmission on top, I think it is a $15 part. Easy fix.
Thanks! Made me laugh when I saw it so I had to stop and take a pic
Thanks! I completely agree about the required maintenance first. I have a list that's growing (little things to potentially big things). I honestly don't think too much about the IMS. I've been reading a lot about it for a long time, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do it.
Good point! I checked the bulbs and the fuse. They're both good so now I'm down to the switch. I just need to read/watch a video on changing it.
These are a little safer than leaving the console lid up. If yours still has the plastic hinge you will break it off with your elbow soon.
