Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I am considering a 996 C4S as my first Porsche (after being set on a 997.2).
Leading evidence: 'Set on a 997.2)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set on a 997.2)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just drove home my 2002 C4S. Unfortunately it rained all day here in Maryland but I still had the chance to have some fun with it. This is the best driving car I've ever experienced. I have been a long time lurker on this forum and learned a lot about what to look for and what to avoid. Even though this car is 16 years old it looks great and drives amazing. I plan to keep the car stock(ish). Thank you everyone who posts here, this community was a big factor in deciding which fun car to buy!
Congratulations man. I just got my 00 C2 Cabriolet two weeks ago and like you its been a life long longing. Just cant yet believe how incredible this car is. Truly it is my zen state when I drive the canyons from my house to Malibu. Life is for living. Now. In the moment.
I saw your black Cab, that's a great color for these cars. I wish the 8 series was mine, it belongs to the gentleman who sold me the car.
There was a Subaru WRX with a teenager driving that kept trying to race me on the way home. It was pretty funny, maybe 15 years ago I would've gotten into it.
I actually really like the blue. I was sort of unsure when I looked at it but I love it now. Also its unique which is the best part, you just don't see this color combo, both blue interior, and white exterior are rare, let alone combined. Where was the car you looked at, this could be it lol
Nice car! I am considering a 996 C4S as my first Porsche (after being set on a 997.2). They seem like an amazing value and every time one passes by I can't help but think how attractive that widebody is.
How do you like the grey interior? Can you tell it is AWD in your limited but rainy experience?
Love the rear quarter view on these, with that wide body and the gills down low. Lucky owners here.
Do all 3 of you guys need to replace your motor mounts or do all C4S exhaust tips hang low?
To be honest I would look for a black or dark blue interior. I think grey and tan don't hold up as well. This car was a screaming deal so that was a compromise for me.
I haven't driven a rear wheel drive 996, so I don't have a comparison. I will say this car handles great, the big tires in the rear certainly help. This was also the only option in my price point to get the wide body so it made sense for me.
Congrats on the car! I also picked up a '03 C4S a couple weeks ago and it's an awesome drive for sure.
I will say I have had both the black and the beige interiors in 996 and 997 cars. The beige seat actually holds up fine, mainly because the leather creases and wear lines tend to be lighter in color, but are contrast against an already light beige color so they tend to blend in. The black deviated carpet is a nice option for a beige interior, helps keep the floorboards looking good IMO. I lucked out and had that option in both of my 996 and 997 beige interiors.
I agree the black interior plastics show less in the form of scratches but it's not too bad in the beige and easy enough to touch up or respray when needed. I have no experience with the grey.
Enjoy the C4S!!!
That Red/tan color combo is money. I really like the sports seats too, another option I had on my 'want' list.
I did notice my tips look a little low. I'm going to have my mechanic check out the mounts and see how they look. I have the sport exhaust option, not sure if that has anything to do with it. It propbably doesn't.
