I wanted to do the same to my C4s, but ultimately felt the same way and just replaced every single exterior light (minus the litroinics) with LED bulbs, looks much more modern w/ the lights on and glad i did as I've become fond of the oem spec.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all
am toying with the thought of replacing the rear lights on my 2004 C4S is it possible to fit the 997 style eBay LED lights.
would it cause any problems, do they fit out of the box.
your thoughts please
They don't fit. 997 wide bodies and narrow bodies use the same part/size. 996 C4S and Turbo are wide bodies and are a different size than 996 narrow bodies. .
I am thinking of doing the exact same thing, with led tail lights for my 2004 C4S. Has anyone done this before and can reveiw thier results..?? I was going to do the smoke /black leds on a yellow C4S.
Thanks
Search on eBay - you can find them significantly less costly. Vendor Fishcake321 is a good source and he sells DEPO product. Some other vendors are even less but they are usually brand Spyder.
Thanks. Here's a link. This will just plug in to where the OEM lights go? One of my OEM lens is slightly cracked so this would be a good replacement.

Anthony C4S, sorry for highjacking your thread!
I purchased DEPO rear LED taillights. I am extremely happy with the fit and finish. True plug and play with factory / OEM quality. I purchased my set from ebay from

I think the tail light upgrade is one of the best bang for buck. It really modernized the tail of my car. It is amazing how different it looks, and not as dated.
Here is the video I made of the swap with before and after comparison.

I did the LED upgrade on my 2002 couple months ago. I also blackened out the rear center reflector with black vinyl. Definitely modernized the rear and made it even more sexier.
I understand the appeal of LED tail lights. That said, the factory tail lights and the reflector strip are such an important part of the design of the 996 C4S, it pains me to see them swapped out for aftermarket LEDs. The OE lights look perfect on that car, and I think it’s one of the best looking 911 rear ends ever made.

But no hate towards those that do mod, it's you're car and if you love it that's all that matters
