I've changed my wash technique now to include a snow foam pre-wash (Gyeon Q2M) so am hopeful that the car will be dirt-free prior to touching the paint for it's final wash.

Suggestion

This time I only used the Rupes Keramic Gloss fine polish and finished with a coating of Waxaddict Vortex wax, which you'll see, if you follow the link (www.waxaddict.co.uk/vortex), is a ridiculous price, but WOW does it give a glass-like finish!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

shinning nicely after a paint correction. Having to much fun with this car! L1NhK32.png

POST 3Original post

What does the process entail? And why did you do it? I also have a black C4S with noticeable swirl marks in the paint.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 14952050

it eliminated all my swirl marks and light surface scratches... basically reapplies the clear coat...

POST 5Original post

I will have my detailer do similar work to my 996 after I purchase and have the body kit installed. What sealer did your detailer use? My guy uses a ceramic top coating. It adds about 2mils of protection.

Beautiful! What kind of $ did a job like that run you (ballpark is ok) ? Any protective coating? I'd love to see a "before & after"...

POST 8Original post

I need to do mine, keep putting it off...great motivation! looks sharp

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

$600 was the price. Its hard to before and after because i never took any close up shots of the car before. well worth the money... especially on a black car.

POST 10Original post

Had mine corrected and ceramic coated last year....made an amazing difference. Looked like the PO washed it with Brillo, lol. Not cheap, though.

POST 11Original post

I have a black car and it desperately needs this done. Black cars have these swirl marks, just about no matter how we clean them. Im looking for a place in Chicagoland to do this, but everyone I talk to says to try a local dealer here for $259. Im scared to do that. I dont think Ill be happy.

POST 12Original post

Murphyslaw1978....look for a shop that does automotive films and ceramic coatings. They must do a good prep job on paint before they can apply these things....if you just want a good detailing/paint correction without ceramic coating, I am sure they can oblige.

POST 13Original post

Milne is white color and will never achieve that wet look regardless of how I polish it. However, it is the easiest color to maintain. Yours is lovely though and it shows all the hard work put into it

POST 14Original post

Not a fan of black because it never looks good if not maintained...However, once its corrected I really don't think anything beats it! REally beautiful car!

POST 15Original post

Luigi, that looks amazing! I have a black C2 and am looking for similar treatment by a good shop in Southeastern Michigan. If anyone knows one, please pm me.

POST 16Original post

Do you happen to know what products were used? Looks like liquid ink!

POST 17Original post

I've done mine myself using a Rupes Bigfoot 21 dual-action polisher and Rupes polishes. I did a full correction when I bought the car 8 months ago, but since then it's acquired more fine swirling which is almost impossible to avoid on a black car. I've changed my wash technique now to include a snow foam pre-wash (Gyeon Q2M) so am hopeful that the car will be dirt-free prior to touching the paint for it's final wash. This time I only used the Rupes Keramic Gloss fine polish and finished with a coating of Waxaddict Vortex wax, which you'll see, if you follow the link (www.waxaddict.co.uk/vortex), is a ridiculous price, but WOW does it give a glass-like finish! A perfect paint correction and a ceramic coating gives excellent results too, and the finish is more durable than a waxed finish BUT, it WILL eventually swirl and then removing the swirling is not possible with conventional polishes. Not a problem if you're not keeping the car more than 2 years or so, but it will be a problem for the next owner. Personally I love the process of polishing and waxing - it's a hobby. But I totally understand those who see it as a chore. Here's some shots (sadly only taken with my phone (Huawei Mate 10 Pro) but you'll get the idea. There are couple of pre-polish shots showing the swirling which was only visible under bight reflected light - the car was actually in quite good condition beforehand.
