When my original Beru ignition coils were replaced this spring, they were crack-free and looked just fine.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

One of my Winter ‘26-27 projects is new coils and plugs (while I have my mufflers out and sent to Fister). I do not want to cheap out on the coils and plugs. FCP has this kit reduced a bit for their Labor Day sale.
Are these Bremi coils and Bosch plugs what I seek for trouble free replacements?

You dont need to spend almost $120 on Porsche bolts and washers. Rock auto has the coils and the plugs six of each for $233.
New parts has the Beru for $27 each.
I love buying stuff from FCP that are consumables, but a lot of their parts are much more expensive than other places.
Ouch! I didn't click on the link. The Beru coil packs came with the correct longer bolts so I was all in for ~$250.
You will need to extend the heat shields to clear the new coil packs. I used these type of stand-offs.
Thanks

! Better prices are good : )
Also, really looking for opinion from experienced members on the quality/reliability of the non-Porsche coil options out there.
All I can say is that the Beru coils have been in a little over 5 years with no issues. My car left the factory with Beru coil packs so Porsche must think they're okay.

Agreed! looking like Autohouz has the best price on
Beru
the coil packs and FCP on
Bremi
at the moment.
The 996 got coil packs and plugs earlier this year and it was one of the few things you actually feel right away, smoother engine and also noticeably better gas milage.
@LandedParts
I appreciate what you are trying to do with your website but a little searching proves you wrong.

@hbdunn
Fair point - started with known vendors that I would personally order from. Have you used this site before? Happy to add the site into the search if you have first hand positive experience with them.
Question for those who have upgraded the coil packs...why does the heat shield hardware come with 2 different thickness spacers? The P/N's translate to 4 - 3mm spacers & 4 - 5mm spacers. Are these stacked when installed under the heat shield for a total of 8mm of spacing?
Good question. The newer CPs are only slightly thicker than the old ones. I'm not sure why I went with 20mm.
BTW, here's a thread with a great write up for this project:

The location of coil bolt heads on the new CP (longer bolts) necessitates the need for spacing out the heat shield. I just can't figure out why they supply 2 different spacer thicknesses unless they are stacked? It would seem easier to supply an 8mm spacer if that's the case!
@NOTA968
I just replaced mine in June, parts had been on my to do shelf for over a year. Cylinder 3 misfire finally encouraged me to change mine. 🙄
I had Beru and Bosch from FCP Euro on the shelf, pulled my exhaust and took the boxes to my cousin in Fayetteville for a little Fister style lovin
