Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They didn't even race the 996 on the same day and they used an iphone for timing.

R&T got a V6 Accord to run ~14...I don't drag my 996.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Watched that while contemplating buying a 996 last year. Bought one a couple months later... guess it worked. Luckily my car doesnt feel the need to warn others when Im slowing down.
The rubber grommets on the aluminum horn bracket are compressed on the 996 they ran. My car recently would flicker the horn on during hard braking. I bought a new bracket with new grommets. They are available and not very expensive.
They didn't even race the 996 on the same day and they used an iphone for timing. There is zero data in this video that is useful. I should have known when I saw it was a TFLcar video.
It's kind of a lame video. I'm sorry 20+ years newer 911 should be expected to be much faster... and the boxster lol.
A better track test would be 996.2 vs 997.1 base and 996 X51 vs 997.1 Base and S.
I would be interested to see how the 996 stacks up against it's newer more improved brother.
The iPhone was probably fine, given the spread between the cars was greater than one second (except 3rd and 4th place). That's probably well within the margins of error.
As for what is useful, that depends on what your definition of the word means. My takeaway is that Porsche did their homework well with the newer cars. They may be heavier, but improvements in suspension and power development continue to produce better performing cars.
If performance is your buying goal, find the newest car that you can afford in the best condition. Each new generation is an improvement over the last and not simply a marketing gimmick to sell next year's model.
What are ecoboost stangs running around there? The 2015+ GTs are running high 12s low 13s here stock, my stock 996 is just behind the slowest of them @13.3. And that's on a prepped track- 911 has much better traction on the street.
Don't think an ecoboost is getting anywhere near that stock unless there's some new hotness I haven't seen yet?
People are claiming low 13s for the Ecoboost. R&T got a V6 Accord to run ~14...I don't drag my 996. I would hate to get beat by someone in an Accord...
That being said, I know for a fact that I will lose to an STI from 0-60, but I will win at 0-120...
