When I was replacing the air filter in my 996, I noticed that there was only a fine mesh on the "filter side" of the MAF, but no plastic grille.

Same airbox between the 3.4 and 3.6 there is only one change between them - how the snorkel part attaches to the box.

When I was replacing the air filter in my 996, I noticed that there was only a fine mesh on the "filter side" of the MAF, but no plastic grille. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a grille there in addition to the fine mesh, or if it's missing? I was unable to find any decent pictures showing the inside/MAF section of the filter box. Does anyone know? Thanks
Yes, there should be both a plastic screen and a fine mesh, the unfortunate news is the air box is only available as an entire unit to purchase.

No performance or operational difference
Would be great if you could exchange it! No problem, there is a top alone on AUS ebay but not too sure about the shipping.
