Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Anyone have a recommendation for shop in the san francisco bay area? TIA

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On the same topic, I have access to a 996 transmission that has been sitting for for over 9 years (off of the car). It worked fine when it was taken out of the car (w/ 50K miles on it). Any reason there should be an issue with it after sitting for so long?

As long as it didn't get wet and corrode it should be fine. Just put fresh oil in and make sure the splines are greased. You might want to put a new input seal on while its out.

Nope. It turns out I didn't have a transmission issue after all. GBOX in Colorado seems to be the place to get one rebuilt.
