Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You need to pull the radio and check all the connections.

Suggestion

I would swap a speaker, then just disconnect the speaker, then swap inputs on the amp side to side

Suggestion

If they used insulation displacement connectors, they need to be replaced and the ground wire for the unit must be checked.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have two noises on the passenger speaker. Aone is similar to a clock and is available when the key is in . Second is car speed sensitive , higher car speed higher frequency. Both present at same time. They come on and go away upon hitting fairly large bumps but strangest is I can make them go away for a period of time by tapping the horn which works ,90 percent of the time. Turning on the lights sometimes works. Noises will eventually come back on. Tap horn.... Ideas on what system may cause this? 1999 c4

POST 2Original post

Sounds like you have some kind of bad ground connection somewhere. What year car, what stereo system? Aftermarket or stock?

POST 3Original post

you need to have it diagnosed , could be a bad speaker, or amp or anything else

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

aftermarket pioneer system previous owner installed. I am trying to determine where to start as the horn, drawing high current making the noise stop, is my best clue. Thinking this is a car ground like alternator not sound system ground

POST 5Original post

thats a whole different story, you should have asked that first. I would swap a speaker, then just disconnect the speaker, then swap inputs on the amp side to side

POST 6Original post

You need to pull the radio and check all the connections. If they used insulation displacement connectors, they need to be replaced and the ground wire for the unit must be checked. If you are looking for obvious things to check, this would be the first thing as the speaker is only powered by the head unit/amp.
