Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello folks....., A friend of mine has a 996 tip and the problem is as follow.... Last week he came back from a ride and he parked his Porsche with no problem. The day after he jumped back in his car, start the car always with no problem. Then he placed the tranny in drive and then push the accelertor and the result was the car refused to go more then 5 mph...the engine runs well the tranny seams to go well but the car refused to go further then 5mph.... We had a look at the parking brake,we can feel the exhaust flowing good no CEL light...any idea....Thanks in advance Robert

POST 2Original post

If the engine rpms do not rise then check the cable to the throttle body. Mine came off one time when taking the air filter box off to replace the air filter. You might also check to see if there is any damage to the transmission from bottoming out causing a loss of transmission fluid.

POST 4Original post

Yeah, does the engine rev in neutral? And, same issue in reverse and forward?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I finally found the problem.... The problem was the idling valve...the car was running poor on the morning at the first start up but if you let the engine run for a minute or two the engine run perfectly well...finally an easy fix. Thanks folks Robert
