Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The 2002 Porsche 996 cars did not come with factory installed MOST based systems.

I am not sure if it matters if it is MOST or not since it is using the Aux input as the source.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Alright I will say it...YOU WERE RIGHT!
I called Becker Audio in NJ a couple of weeks ago and asked about an upgraded CDR-220 for my 2002 911 cab with the Bose stereo, Subwoofer, and amplifier. they told me they had a plug and play unit that would work...No Problem!
I posted this here and you guys told me no way it will not work, but as Becker are the experts, I figured they knew what you were doing?
So I got the Continental TR7412UB-OR which looked great, had all the features I wanted, plugged right in, powered right up....but guess what?....ZERO SOUND
Now Becker are on vacation for a week, and I am sitting here fuming having wasted my time energy and money.
Any comments or suggestions other than "Na Na I told you so" ?
I have the CDR-220, and I am using this:
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/BLU-BKR235.html
It works really well, gives me handsfree calling and bluetooth streaming.
So if you still have your CDR-220, you could go with something like that.
Did you install the unit yourself? Does your car have the most fiber optic system? I just installed a stereo in my car and I bought the most converter. If the new deck has RCA outputs for an amp this will work (you will lose your fader function tho)..
I did install the unit (it only took 5 minutes) it had the harnesses already connected and was just "Plug and Play" though no play
I do not know if I have the Most system (How do you tell?) and the new unit does not have RCA outputs.
I did install the unit myself. I don't have MOST (on this car, I do on my Cayenne).
I am not sure if it matters if it is MOST or not since it is using the Aux input as the source. The other wiring is just for power (it daisy chains into the existing harness so no splicing is needed).
the MOST is a fiber optic communication. It is a black plug on the original deck with 2 orange conductors going to it. It should be pretty obvious if you have it as if you dont you will have a lot of wires..
EDIT: Sorry I re-read and you said you had the CDR-220.. That is the system without most fiber optics.. The CDR-23 is the fiber optic unit.. I cant help you out although I cant see how it wouldn't work if everything is wired up..
That Continental TR7412UB-OR looks like a great replacement for the cdr-220 or cdr-210 , classic factory look with all the modern devices, bluetooth, USB, AUX input. Hope you get it sorted out without much hassle. The CDR-220 can be a pain in the ***, sometimes it has to be recoded, (weather or not you have Bose amp or a Harman amp) sometimes you have to do a factory handover, or input the VIN number ect. But since this Continental is an aftermarket radio it should not have all those idiosyncrasies.
The problem is with the Conti TR7412-OR. It does not provide the level line L+R output to the Bose amp. This HU is intended to drive four speaker-level outputs to a normal analog Porsche sound systems. The Bose systems are much more complicated in design over the base systems.
A replacement CDR-220 from Becker Autosound would have been the easiest choice.
You'll notice an orange fiber optic cable on the back of the HU. The 2002 Porsche 996 cars did not come with factory installed MOST based systems. There is a slight chance some of the car had it installed at a later date by the dealership, but highly unlikely.
My 996 came with an aftermarket stereo and upgraded cabling, I believe it's called "double din update". I googled it and found this guide ...
