Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My lighter/power socket does not work, the fuse is fine so I want to see if its connected at the socket. does the entire trim piece (lighter and three buttons above it) just pop out?

POST 2Original post

What year car do you have? On my '03, the socket comes out on its own. You can pry it out with a screwdriver, but be careful not to scratch the surrounding trim when doing so.

POST 4Original post

use a soft ply tool you can ply from the bottom of the socket or to the left of the socket on the right of the radio. The trim piece just come off. My 02 it is a horse show shape piece around the air vent and the other side pop out in one piece. The back of the socket you can remove the plugs behind to remove the whole horse shoe. I find it takes a bit of force but you can pop the button out by pushing them in. I didnt try the cig socket though.

POST 5Original post

I'd try just popping it out. It should be very easy!

POST 6Original post

I don't know if the 2002 is the same as my 2000, but getting the lighter socket out without breaking it is a major pain.
