Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Install pccm+' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install pccm+' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I'm really hoping someone can help me.
The previous owner installed PCCM+. When I first bought the car it seemed to be working fine.
I ended up removing the stereo to complete the anti-foam process via the front vent. After plugging everything back in I noticed that the stereo works fine however apple carplay was intermittent for a while and then became dead. Regardless of what phone I connected to the media box and what USB cable I ended up determining that there was something wrong with either the media box or the stereo. I removed the stereo and saw that the tab that supposed to 'click' and secure the connection was flattened. It wasn't really secure in the back of the stereo.
So I ordered a new media box, plugged it in and presto.. apple carplay started working.... for a while and then stopped again. This time the tab was fine. I would wiggle the cable and it would work/not work depending on what position I head the connection in.
Looking at the female connector in the back of the stereo I noticed that there are 'fingers' on either side. So I gentle bent them to be more proud as I found pushing the plug left make apple carplay work. (see pic)
I'm at a loss. I cannot be the only one to be having this sort of issue?
I would love some guidance.
I cannot tell from the photo - are there 4 prongs projecting from the base of that socket, along with the 2 tabs you are pointing out?
It is possible one or more of those 4 prongs are not making reliable contact with the contacts inside the cable you are inserting into the socket...
I would verify all those prongs are making contact with the contacts inside the cable fitting, as well as the two tabs you are already investigating, especially if you are able to get the unit to work by wiggling.
Another possibility is there is an open connection on the receptacle on the inside of the unit, and wiggling it is forcing intermittent contact. Using a voltmeter/test meter should help you confirm circuit health.
Have the same issue, buggered the connector/pcb tabs bwhile removing the pccm+. Was able to press it back and torque it a little with electrical tape and one of these days need to go in with the fine soldering iron to properly reconnect. But it's been working fine for like 6 months by now. (So now it's going to bad off course)
I've had it repaired.
Finally found someone that knows how to use a soldering iron. He's pulled it apart and he said that all plugs are held in place by a screw or some sort of support mechanism.
But not the 'brown' media box. Said that the feet were broken and starting to lift the circuits.
So he's soldered and it is now working for me!!
two years I've chased this
