Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

will a porsche 987 cayman 3.4l engine off a 2007 fit a 2000 996 3.4l

Physically fit? Probably. The 987 engine has VarioCam Plus while the 2000 996 3.4l engine only came with VarioCam. Thus the 996 DME won't work the VarioCam Plus system correctly. I'm not sure the old style VarioCam and the new style VarioCam are the same at the DME level of control either. The best/easiest engine swaps are like for like. That is find an engine from a 2000 996 and swap it into your car. The engine will fit no doubt about it and everything should connect/hook right up. (Unless you get say an engine out of a Tip car and your car is a manual. There are some differences but these differences have been dealt with and documented.) All I can offer is unless someone chips in that has managed this transplant with success is check out the Pelican Parts site. Some engine swaps are covered. Of course. Its a proprietary billet aluminum extrusion. Every engine I have built since 2008 has used these, 100% of my aircooled engines built since 1999 have used these. I was LN's first customer, and was working with them before the formal company was formed. I've developed the product from the ground up, including the very first set of Nickies that were built... Those are fitted to the 220HP 4 cylinder 914 based engine in my 356 still today.
