Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Yesterday, while on a two and a half hour trip, I raised the temperature setting on the climate control a few degrees to get a little heat.

Suggestion

My symptoms were slightly different - I had acceptable cooling at the max cool setting, but above that I would get a blast of hot air that continued for quite a while after adjusting the setting upward.

Suggestion · Original poster

I dropped the temp setting all the way to 65 degrees and still it wouldn't stop producing heat.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yesterday, while on a two and a half hour trip, I raised the temperature setting on the climate control a few degrees to get a little heat. When the car got warm it wouldn't stop pouring out hot air no matter what I did. I dropped the temp setting all the way to 65 degrees and still it wouldn't stop producing heat. I had to open up the windows and close the duct outlets completely. Today it returned to normal when I took a ride. Has that happened to anyone here? What do you think was the cause?

POST 2Original post

Is it still working?.... if it doesnt happen again, its all part of the electronic age.

POST 3Original post

I had a similar problem that was fixed with a changeout of the temperature sensor. Before purchase of my 2002 C4S I had the diagnostic codes run and a fault was indicated to confirm the symptoms I observed. My symptoms were slightly different - I had acceptable cooling at the max cool setting, but above that I would get a blast of hot air that continued for quite a while after adjusting the setting upward. Dealer did the work at no cost as clearing codes was a condition of purchase.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I suspected the temp sensor but it worked fine today. I don't drive the car much in cooler weather and because of that I don't use the heat that much. I wondered if something in the ductwork was getting stuck. The compressor indicator said the compressor was working but heat was pouring out the dash outlets.
