Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Okay tried to lubricate off the parts but it's still making a loud noise coming the last 5-10% and when going back down it sticks for a second and then goes back down.

WD-40 is fine to free it up and to remove oxidation but it's not a lubricant per se' (it's actually a solvent with short term lubricating properties) because once it evaporates -which it does fairly quickly- you'll be right back to where you started.

The NA 996 uses a set of cables connected to a rack/pinion drive located under the panel covering the bottom of the spoiler grill to drive the spoiler.

You could also use some light machine oil as well.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi so my car is 12 years old and has 250k daily driven. Obviously I assume the Spoiler needs to be serviced. Can someone direct me how to Lube the spoiler mechanism? It makes a noise when coming up and some times the warning light comes on, more often now than before. Thanks
Can't find my other notes on this one. So, from memory, see the attached diagram, the rear spoiler hinges have small lubrication holes. Part No. 17 in the diagram. If you shoot some silicone spray in the holes it frees it up. You could also use some light machine oil as well.

Zookie,
The NA 996 uses a set of cables connected to a rack/pinion drive located under the panel covering the bottom of the spoiler grill to drive the spoiler.
If you check this thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-switches.html
you will see a good picture of the mechanism. The cable could be dried out or the rack could be dried out. I would try the cable first (there are plenty of good cable dressings-try a motorcycle shop if you cannot find one). There is another thread somewhere that shows how to disassemble the rack/pinion but I can't find it just now.
Of course it could just be the hinge as well but I'm sure you have lubed everything obvious already...
Okay tried to lubricate off the parts but it's still making a loud noise coming the last 5-10% and when going back down it sticks for a second and then goes back down. Any thoughts?
My rear spoiler creaked and sometimes stopped half way, I dosed the plastic lifters with silicon lubricant spray. A couple of times up and down with the spoiler and no more creaking. Had the car for two years and worked the day I sold it.
