Must be my lucky day, but somehow they deemed the damage under "comprehensive" damage, so I'm only paying $100 for the repair, repaint, clear coat and even a new clear bra!

b3freak: Figured if I had to change the bumper anyways, I'd might as well spice it up.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Was having a great weekend until I came back from eating dinner in Berkeley to see this... I have no idea who "smashed and dashed" my front bumper, but I doubt I can claim insurance and I don't really see paying the $500 deductible as a viable option when I can find a good condition 996 Turbo for roughly that price. So if any of yall in the Bay Area have a C4s, 40th Anniv, or Turbo front bumper in Artic Silver (preferably), help a brotha out.

POST 2Original post

I had similar damage when I hit a stray object on a parkway. My local body shop was able to repair and repaint the bumper for $300.

POST 3Original post

Ouch! That's a major scar left by some idiot. People are crazy... this kind of thing happens all the time. They think if noone sees them, then they can get away with it. Guess these morons think either they're going to arrested or their insurance rates will go up. But the fact is, most insurance groups (at least in GA) will pay for the damage with NO out of pocket expense to the liable account holder. uggg... Regarding the bumper... You and me have the same taste. While I don't hate the base bumper, I think the TT/C4S bumper compliments the car so much better. (see my upgrade picture) I also added the OEM side skirts.

wyovino: Did your local body shop repair and repaint the entire bumper for $300, if that's the case I might do some research with my local body shops here! But hopefully, I can switch all together to a turbo or gt3 front bumper! [QUOTE=b3freak;13667123]Ouch! That's a major scar left by some idiot. Not so say anythings wrong with the OE C2 bumpers, but I like how the turbo and gt3 bumpers are just more aggressive and lower to the ground , (and joe toth makes front splitters for those two bumpers as well, if only he made them for the 996.2s C2s...

POST 5Original post

Yes, $300 for the repair and repainting. They knew up-front that this would be a cash job. That can help. It's been more than 5 years and the repair has held up. No issues with the finish at all. If you are lucky enough to find another bumper in your color for a reasonable price, that would be a good way to go too.

POST 6Original post

I think I remember seeing this car on Craigslist earlier this year, I love those wheels. This happened when I street parked my car in North Beach one evening: Thankfully, the plate took most of the damage and I was left with just a minor scuff in the paint. Otherwise, I'd be looking at a full bumper replacement. Hope you find that C4S/TT front bumper, it'd be an awesome upgrade for a car as eye-catching as yours.

Though I wish I got a new bumper all together, can't complain! It's the Bay Area drivers.... You're actually half-correct, I actually got these wheels from that CG seller, he's a good friend of mine! I took my license plate off...maybe if I had them on, they would have offered a bit of protection... We should really organize a Bay Area 996 drive, through Highway 9 or something!

POST 8Original post

Ah that'd explain it. That was also a silver targa, if memory serves, which is why I was confused. Is it still on CL, just with Twist IIs now? There are a ton of good roads down in South Bay, I have a couple of loops that I do with friends of mine fairly often.
