Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
"It was the shop that had done some mistakes when assembling the clutch.
Leading evidence: 'shop' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'shop' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Lubricate release bearing and the clutch arm contact points."' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Clutch had been replaced 3k kms prior with new throw out bearing, clutch disk and pressure plate.

The following items were replaced about 10k miles before I purchased the car and it's always had this noise:

When I replaced my LWFW with a new DMF I had the throw out bearing replaced.

When I called the indie to ask why it was changed less than two weeks later, the owner did not like the new set up.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm starting to plan my "off season" to do list for the 996 - I've got a persistent squeak from the clutch slave cylinder area that sounds exactly like this video:
Since Ahsai just posted about a failed clutch it reminded me that I should probably do something about it.
The squeak is more pronounced when it's warm. It's coming from the slave cylinder area - not from the clutch pedal or helper spring. It has done this for over 2 years - both before and after a new clutch.
Thoughts?
Same boat. Interested to read about a fix.
The following items were replaced about 10k miles before I purchased the car and it's always had this noise:
Pilot bearing 999 052 210 00
Release Bearing 99611608004
Clutch release arm 99701160712001
Pressure Plate 99611602702
Porsche sport clutch disc 881861999856
Porsche Sport Flywheel 106411-11
For what it's worth, the OP for that video posted his fix:
"It was the shop that had done some mistakes when assembling the clutch. The clutch arm was in a crooked position, resulting in clutch engaging and disengaging unevenly. And also they had forgot to lubricate the release bearing and the clutch arm contact points."
Ashai,
Have you ordered that part yet? That part uses torlon, which requires regular lubrication. I'd like to machine some using phenolic - it lasts much longer in lube-starved/harsh environments.
I had the exact same squeak, quite loud coming from the gearbox bell housing area.
Clutch had been replaced 3k kms prior with new throw out bearing, clutch disk and pressure plate.
When I replaced my LWFW with a new DMF I had the throw out bearing replaced. That was the culprit even though it was new. Also the Indy shop that did the work turned out to be a really dud shop so maybe a lack of lube.
OPC did the work this time around and the squeak is gone.
You mentioned Porsche sports flywheel is that a light weight flywheel?
I have a feeling that if it is LWFWs chew through throw out bearings...
When I was checking out the car and going through service records, I noticed he took the car back 11 days later to have a new clutch and fly wheel put in. When I called the indie to ask why it was changed less than two weeks later, the owner did not like the new set up. (It was too light, stalled it, etc)
It was a very expensive month for him. lol
I'd be willing to bet that the LWFW from the PO may have damaged the throw out bearing and that's the cause of the squeak.
Was hard to believe the OPC tech when he said it was the bearing as it was near new/only 3k kms old but they replaced it and im squeak free. It may have been lack of lube but for $100 for the bearing made sense to just replace it.
I was lucky I was going back to a DMF so I had a reason to drop the box but in your situation IMO would be hard for me to justify dropping the box to fix it less you could get the IMS done at the same time or you could DIY.
Then again thinking back it drove me crazy hearing that squeak so maybe I'd spend the money!
