Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I use 32 frt and 35 rr for the street and increase to 34/37 for the track.
Leading evidence: 'Use 32 frt and 35 rr' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend 36/44 cold' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
In a nutshell, starting out at the recommended 44 psi rear could exceed the max pressure on the sidewall on a hot track.

Suggestion
Many people run lower pressures on the street to help smooth out the ride, some I've read as low as 30 frt, 33 rear and then go to the track this way!

Suggestion
If he were to run the rears at 44 cold and then heat them up on the track he is asking for some serious problems (for example, no outer tread and side wall grip).

Suggestion
At the moment, use factory or tire pressure recommendations, but depending on the tire, one needs to be mindful of the tire pressures and temperatures when hot.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm taking my car out to the track (WSIR) this week and would like some sage advice on tire pressure for the track. Around town I run the recommended 36/44 cold. I've heard suggestions that given the higher temperatures during track use, that lower pressures should be used. Any thoughts?
Do a search on this topic for more info than you could ever want!
In a nutshell, starting out at the recommended 44 psi rear could exceed the max pressure on the sidewall on a hot track. Many people run lower pressures on the street to help smooth out the ride, some I've read as low as 30 frt, 33 rear and then go to the track this way! 30 psi is about the lowest one can safely use, although hit a deep pothole with 30 series tires and you'll likely pinch the tire and bend the rim.
I'm not a sage, but it really does come down to personal preference. I use 32 frt and 35 rr for the street and increase to 34/37 for the track. There are also racer's tools such as tire pyrometers made to make this a more exact science if you want to really get accurate.
First time to the track I would leave it at the factory specs. After that you can start lowering them a bit, I found 34/39 to 36/44 hot pressures seemed to work best.
instead of having Bob re-explain (as he has graciously done time and time again)....have a peek at this thread that I started. Great input from Bob and others active in the DE forum.

Also, what kind of tires are you running? It makes a difference after you become "hooked" on the track. Initially, it's moot. As you progress through the process, you will have many conversations and thoughts about tires, wheels, alignment, etc...then, it will begin to really matter. At the moment, use factory or tire pressure recommendations, but depending on the tire, one needs to be mindful of the tire pressures and temperatures when hot.
As an aside, bring a pad and pen and make good notes on the tire pressure when stone cold v. hot...you'll find this helpful as you move forward.
Initially it's moot? Are you kidding? If he were to run the rears at 44 cold and then heat them up on the track he is asking for some serious problems (for example, no outer tread and side wall grip). We had a beginner at a recent DE that started at 44 and they heated over 51 and he lost it on the course and was almost rear ended by 6 following cars because he should have never lost it in such a straight forward turn. Granted there is more to "losing it" than TP, but it is one of those things that should be checked EVERY TIME out just like the torque of your wheel bolts, pads, etc.
Can they be run like that? Sure. But it is not really safe if you are going to be getting the temps on those tires up there.
