Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, as of today I am the proud owner of a 2003 Carrera4 cabriolet . Guard's red with black interior. I want to replace my Pioneer AVIC-N3 navi (it's in the stock head unit spot) with the Alpine IVA-W200. Is this a good switch? I'd prefer a flat panel screen rather than a motorized one. I also would like to know how to relocate the climate control to the bottom of the center console right below the cd storage spot. Is this something I could do myself or does it require shop work? Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

Climate Control can be relocated to the lower sections...and you replace the storage cubby with a small trim kit that goes around the a/c controls. Go to our Gallery page (bumperplugs.com) and look at the Speed Yellow interior shot.

POST 3Original post

Gota911, I think you have something to say here?

POST 4Original post

Darren, I'll chime in for Tim KMORRIS_330.....IT WOULD BE EASIER TO HELP IF WE FIRST HAD PICS OF YOUR CAR AND A BRIEF INTRO!!!!!!

POST 5Original post

Oh, man!!! A guy takes an afternoon "off" to go golfing and one of the Newbies tries to sneak one buy me! Mitty - Hot damn! I guess I'm getting a "rep," just like Dell! Dell - thanks for watching my back! I noticed you are continuing your "kinder/gentler" approach to Newbies! I kinda miss the " WFT - you &^$%#@!* where are the pics and how about a *&%$#@% intro! " Ok..... maybe I exaggerated a bit!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's like I've avoided a hurricane. I'll post pics asap.

POST 10Original post

Nice looking cab. Congrats and Welcome to the best Porsche Forum on the 'net! Don't mind us, we just look at this as Newbie Initiation! Yes, you should be able to re-locate the climate control to the lower position. Here are a couple of mod suggestions: Clear side markers and aluminum gauge rings.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Definitely fixing the side markers and rings. I've a list a page long of mods I'm planning. I was also thinking about doing a two-tone red interior.

POST 12Original post

Has anyone tried relocating their climate control to the space where the CD holder is/was (right below the Sat Nav in the uppermost space on the lower console)? I need to do this to make more space to mount my radar/camera detector unit, and it seems that it just doesn't fit. Is there a different center console part number with slots so this can be done, or do I have to take my Dremel to the whole thing? Thanks in advance

POST 13Original post

Have you looked into the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 ( www.avic411.com ) instead of the Alpine unit. The AVIC is an all in one unit, and you wouldn't have to find space for the other box. There is also an Eclipse unit which is all in one.

POST 14Original post

KMMORRIS How do u like the your nav unit you got now. Im interested in getting one? Is it a nice feature as far as the Nav itself? Do you have the option of the voice command,if so is it worth the xtra cash

POST 15Original post

hey I thought that it is not possible to do a head unit swap with the cars withthe MOST system...?

POST 16Original post

Someone managed to do it ... can't find the post off hand, but look on avic411.com. I've got an 02, so it's not a problem for me, but you are right the 03 has MOST, and there is more work to do.

POST 17Original post

I put the Pioneer unit in. And I relocated the climate to the bottom.

POST 18Original post

To relocate the climate control to the bottom on the radio console do you need any special parts? Is this a complicated task? thanks
