Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I recently got round to fitting Coilovers to my 996 C2 and I couldn't be happier with the results ! About as soft as stock but much better body control ! Getting ready to install Ride hight set Now a good clean and off to a car meet !

POST 3Original post

Looks good. Rate the install difficulty on a scale of 1 to 10. I did a conversion from ABC hydraulic suspension to coilovers on an SL500 last winter. Right front was a piece of cake. Left front was a PITA. Ended up having a shop do the rear suspension due to a problem with the retractable top that prevented access to the rear.

POST 5Original post

One of the best mods for the car. Completely transforms it.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Guys, Yes spacers are on the cards shortly, it has 9mm on the rear currently so will match the fronts I think or step up to a 15mm on the rear and move the 9mm to the front. Its setup to 1.5 Degrees front and 2 Degrees Rear camber currently and feels great on the road! See below http://tricoloreperformance.co.uk/pr...1-coilover-kit

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So Install took 4 hours end to end including setup of heights and applying anti seize. Rears are really easy, disconnect the drop-link, single bottom bolt and top mount to remove. Fronts are easy too, disconnect the drop link, front track arm and top mount. My front drop-links were almost rusted on so I we took the hubs off to get them off but again a 10 minute job. Fitting them back in is easy just watch the hard lines don't bend on the front, if in doubt remove the caliper and tie it up out the way Just shout if you want pics etc and I can write a guide. Cheers!

POST 10Original post

Looks great although going too low will introduce some serious bump steer. The 996 suspension geometry is pretty fickle once you get to a certain ride height 30-35mm below stock.

I was wondering the same thing. There is one obvious thing on the exterior that make me think it's not the genuine article. Maybe the OP will confess and put our minds at rest. Nice mods though.

POST 12Original post

Looks like he lives in Europe somewhere, probably U.K based on the link. They got the MK1 996 GT3 (taco) we only got the MK2 996 but had the MK1 GT3 look kit (aero). What makes you guys not believe this is a true GT3 or not? Just curious, without the engine lid open its hard to tell if it is a true or not. .. maybe mirrors? With that all said, I am curious to hear what OP says. The paint looks amazing, like it needs to be driven more

POST 13Original post

Curious what the distances are from ground to front and rear fender lips? Also spring rates?

POST 14Original post

Definitely a Brit GT3

POST 15Original post

Lack of the center radiator.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, No its a C2 Aero kit (see first post). Factory aero car so didn't have centre Radiator cutout Other differences are 6 Piston front brakes as opposed to 4 on my car and wheel width is a bit smaller. The car was badged as a GT3 from very early on in life so will be removed when it gets a detail this year. Cheers, Matt

The car is lowered 30mm from the stock ride hight so not a mega drop, the lip under the front bumper does catch but to be honest it caught before the lowering. Will grab spring rates tomorrow for you. Cheers,

Haha she does get driven a lot to be fair ! (9k in the last 4 months) (88k from new) and just keeps performing, regularly leaving newer machines behind on the back roads. Its not a true GT3, its a Carrera 2 with a few tweaks but is a factory GT3 Aero kit car. You are right though we got the Gen 1 GT3 that is almost identical in looks.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here are some better pictures of the car as a whole from the day I bought it.
