Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As above i have for sale my much beloved 911 996.
I have owned the car for the last 6 years and it has been maintained regardless of cost by the same porsche mechanic.
The car has recently had a full service and engine out with all bushes, oils, filters, belts, pads, discs and seals replaced at a very high cost.
As standard the car has air condition, traction control, ABS, electric windows, electric mirrors, electric seats, leather seats with lumber support and cd player.
The car is 3.4l auto/tiptronic.
The car has had a few upgrades that you wouldn't normally find on a 996, these are;
-18" split rim porsche alloys with brand new tyres
-new euro style rear porsche spoiler fitted 4 months ago
-facelift lights, bumpers and skirts all new porsche parts
-5mm spacers all round
-clifford alarm with remote engine start
-custom made tuned quad exhaust
I hope this give's you an idea of the sort of money that i have spent on this car, un-grudgingly. The car has never missed a beat, never let me down and always started first time every time.
The car has been my daily commuter since i have owned it hence the high millage which will still increase until i sell.
I would of kept the car but due to me working abroad more and more now i see it a waste to sit in the garage gathering dust.
I would appreciate it if only serious buyers would contact me as i am a very busy person and do not have the time to answer silly questions.
If you wish to know anything about the cars history and servicing then i will put you in touch with the mechanic. His name is George Morrison he owns and runs a porsche garage in rutherglen. To be honest he would know the car better than i would myself.
The car does have stone chips on the front bumper and bonnet. The drivers seat bolster is worn but not to badly as can be seen in the pictures. I tried to take pictures of the stone chips but they are to small and far apart to photograph. Other than that there is nothing else to mention.
I have lots of more photos so if you'd like any more just let me know.
The car has 9 months MOT and TAX.
I am open to sensible offers.
The car can be viewed at pretty much any time as long as i get plenty of notice.

full servie history with an engine removal just done to replace all belts, bushes, bearings and fluids.
i know the mileage is high but the car has wanted for nothing in parts and servicing.
fingers crossed !
True some previous threads have been gloom and doom.
I'm surprised that I can pull myself out of my deep dark depression after some of the reads....its all a subliminal mind game says my shrink.....
But really? What you have done is a bought cool piece of history that is made to be driven like you stole it. Oh and like Marc says......maintenance is a must. Enjoy the livin' $hit out of it.
The only saving grace is that my wife has a horse and sucker costs a lot more in feed, board, vet bill, masseuses and farrier bills than my car. By rights I should have a 997TT........btw, can we get a dead horse head as a smiley?
Cheers
and welcome. Nice looking find!
Don't be scared, be smart and enjoy the car!!! You stated they cahnged bearings with motor out.... What bearings?
Anyhow - beautiful!
153K miles.... I think she has proven herself, keep up with the maintenance and she'll easily go passed 200K. Drive it like you stole it. Have fun on the drive!
600 miles? How many kilometers is that?
Sweet car. Make sure you warm it up before you drive it as it was designed. 600 miles is a good distance for the first drive.
And by "warm it up" I think he meant to say don't warm it up. Drive with rpm under 4200 until it is at operating temp. Don't idle till warmed up, and don't lug the motor
Oh gawd, the Newbie is already sucking up to the 996 Moderator!
Welcome to Rennlist and Congrats on getting a nice looking 996! Thanks for the pics!
It's nice to see someone that knows you are supposed to go from an air cooled to a water cooled Porsche, not the other way around!
Congrats on the purchase, sharp looking vehicle, enjoy it (I'm not sure what the doom and gloom is all about, most of us Rennlisters have had tens of thousands of trouble free miles over the past decade in these cars)
Tim these new newbs are all posting pics too early! We're going to need to get you a new job description on here.
Congrats Paul, and make sure to enjoy it!
hehehe, there was no way i was going to make that kind of mistake. I'd been lurking round long enough to know better.
Beautiful Aero...and welcome...dont be too scared about some of the horror stories you hear around here...drive the car, maintain the car and most of all ENJOY IT. - Your Aero cousin across the pond...
BTW-good job posting pictures....we will expect more when you pick up car
Very nice, you're certain to enjoy it.
Just a but confused, motor out to change seals and bushes? Like shrubs? or bushings? I didn't know the 996 motor had bushes or bushings. It has plain or shell bearings for the crank and cams, ball bearings for the intermediate shaft, several gaskets and seals. Not important if you don't know, and I'm not trying to put you on the spot, just curious as I work on motors every day.
i don't know nick, see page 1 of this thread to see a copy of the original ad on pistonheads to clarify the engine work. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and with ref to the "sucking up to the moderator" quote...i'm known as toe nails cos thats all you see of me ...butt gag !!
Hi Paul nice car no matter what you read. I hope your roads aren't locked down like englands major metro areas with plate readers that clock your car at points and mail tickets if you average over the speed limit or worse yet the speed cameras.
Besides enjoying the cars feel of the road you might find a track to feel out the limits of the suspension and tires. Best of travels to you and welcome to the forum
She is lovely indeed. I love those wheels too.
...by the way, I think you got swindled. Your steering wheel is on the wrong side. That's gonna cost alot to switch it to the correct side.
