Suggestion · Original poster

As cities and states scramble to fill budget gaps with revenue from traffic citations, "not only are the (speeding) tolerances much lower, but the frequency of a warning instead of a ticket is way down," says James Baxter, president of the National Motorists Association, a Wisconsin-based drivers' rights group that helps its members fight speeding tickets.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Great, now you cant even pass someone..... By Larry Copeland, USA TODAY The recession may be claiming a new victim: the 5-10-mph "cushion" police and state troopers across the USA have routinely given motorists exceeding the speed limit. As cities and states scramble to fill budget gaps with revenue from traffic citations, "not only are the (speeding) tolerances much lower, but the frequency of a warning instead of a ticket is way down," says James Baxter, president of the National Motorists Association, a Wisconsin-based drivers' rights group that helps its members fight speeding tickets. http://usat.me?38039130

POST 2Original post

They were out like crazy yesterday. It seemed like there was a cop on every corner. I guess it was the end of the month though - gotta hit that ticket quota!

yeah.... you automatically dont have a buffer though. You have a red VW.

POST 5Original post

LOL for the record, I kind of always thought the same thing........... till I drove one OUCH back at ya

POST 6Original post

It's so obvious that this has nothing to do with safety and all about revenue. Yet no one stands up to it because it's all in the name of "saving lives."

POST 7Original post

I just don't trust highway patrols and their competence.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 7445673

That would really suck bigtime. We're used to driving 75 in a 65 without any concrens at all...it's only going to get worse for awhile.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7445786

Just messin witya.... actually I would love to have a 965 or a gt3. Tough decision right there.

POST 10Original post

IMO the GT3 would be a suble step... sure its more power and brakes... your MIL version has the same chasis right? the 965 would be such a differant animal... not saying better, just SO differant - they are about my Favorite visually!

POST 11Original post

I cant even drive my P because there are so many damn HP on every highway I go on....it sucks

POST 12Original post

Saw that article yesterday in USA Today. I'm still going to drive the same way.

POST 13Original post

Ivangene is the new car getting better gas mileage? Hawaii has motorcycle police that generally if they pull a person over its a ticket from their laser guns. Then a few years back when the police were playing real politics (money) with their upset attitude of not getting funds from tickets given they quit giving tickets all together. The whole island loved that period and probably got safer. Now that they get funds from tickets its like japan whaling or killing dolphins. Whole gangs of ticket givers bunched up at their traps. I swear it's like drivers are cows getting branded then sent down the chute.

POST 14Original post

I know. L.A. county is swarming with them! It's nuts. A year ago it was a free for all on the highways!!

POST 15Original post

was pulled over and ticketed for no front plate. noramlly you get those from meter readers, etc. - not getting pulled over

POST 16Original post

I'm driving faster than before nowadays cause all the other cars are driving like sissies below the speed limit. I got a ticket late last year for speeding but was dismissed.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 7448660

I got it dismissed because I wasn't guilty! No points, no traffic school, no drama. Trial by Written Declaration - a long written argument why the officer's premise for my speeding violation are ALL invalid.

POST 19Original post

In PA, there is a statutory 5 mph buffer for speed limits 55 and over and a 10 mph buffer for speed limits under 55.

POST 20Original post

Give them and inch and they'll ake a mile. In their case its many of miles an hour being taken away from the public. Much unlike germany. Of course it takes speacial people to see money to be made my saying you shouldn't be driving over a certain speed. Worse yet the lack of drivers training for many is sickening. I saw one man say a long time ago that its a 25 question test for a license to kill in america.

POST 21Original post

Downstate NY there is a 20mph buffer.....keep it under 70 in a 50zone and you are ok and keep it under 80 in a 55mph and you are ok.
