Since the spoiler has been on the lid for so long it all needs to replaced together.

I should be removing it again tomorrow when I check out a local Porsche part shop - I'll check then.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I'm in Toronto and recently picked up a 1999 C2, which is my first venture into proper sports cars. I've owned several Audis and have always wanted to test the Porsche waters. The car has a few mods, mostly cosmetic.... GT3 style front bumper and skirts, a rear spoiler with intake vents, Champion white gauages, Evo pedals, short shifter, and cleared signals. Pics are attached. Which brings me to my question.. I am not really a spoiler type of guy so I'm looking to go back to a stock rear spoiler. Since the spoiler has been on the lid for so long it all needs to replaced together. I found a local 997 lid that I can use (the whole package - lid, spoiler, motor, etc) but I don't know if a 997 C2 lid will fit on a 996 C2. I thought I'd ask to see if anyone knows and it might save me some wasted time. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Welcome, nice car No that won't fit If you become a member I might have a rear spoiler assy I will sell you for next to nothing (if you need the deck lid, I have one of those too)

POST 4Original post

Looks nice...welcome to the 99 club. Your 911 looks like it's in great shape.

POST 5Original post

I am sure we need more pics really clean looking

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@Barn996 - Thanks, it has the normal wear and tear of a 11 year old car, but it's been pretty well cared for. @ivangene - I mostly have a bunch of spoiler photos, but given the nice weather this weekend I'll make sure to take opportunity to get some decent photos.

POST 9Original post

Damn Newbies are posting pics right away. Wait, I did get to yell at one yesterday! Welcome to Rennlist and congtars on getting the sweet looking car! Thanks for the pic.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@redridge - When I took it off the other day I thought I had a lead on a deck lid so I rushed to put it back on and drive off. So I didn't even check who makes it, though I'm pretty sure it's not TechArt. I should be removing it again tomorrow when I check out a local Porsche part shop - I'll check then. BTW - you've got the best avatar I've seen so far. Thanks to everyone else for the warm welcome... today it's heading to 25 C (77 F) in Toronto ... I'll try to take a few new pics.

POST 12Original post

I might be interested in buying your old spoiler decklid combo. I am in London What colour is your car Blue or Black? [email removed]

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's black... I'll send some pics to your email address.

POST 14Original post

I might also be interested in the spoiler/lid also. Does anyone know if that style wing will work on a cab? It looks low enough so it won't interfere with the mechanism. I'm in California. Thanks, Rudy

POST 15Original post

Welcome to the world of Porsche. Great looking car. How many miles, or kilometers? I agree, I would go back to the stock wing setup. Enjoy.

POST 16Original post

She looks great. I'd keep that wing. I'm glad to see you purchased a black one. Everyone knows they are the fastest.

POST 17Original post

Yah maybe figuring changing is going to include paint to match the color, new lid and rewiring if somebody mucked the connectors, and possibly having to put the air intake back to original condition to match up with the retractable spoiler......maybe staying with what you have would be less of a pain. Best of luck getting it done with out any problems. Nice car and welcome to the forum.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@theporscheguy - it's got about 88,000 kms (so I guess about 55,000 miles) @jugger911,Pac996 - Yep, even if I can trade for a stock black, I may have to paint to match. So I don't want to get into a situation where I have to mess with everything to make it work. If it'll be relatively easy I'll switch it... it's certainly not a problem now, I just think I'd prefer stock. So I won't get myself into too much work.
