Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
Also your tires are 8 years old (probably not the rears...wear out fast) and the rubber is probably a little hard, so new tires will probably give you a better ride.
Leading evidence: 'little hard' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'little hard' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check o2 system' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Just make sure the gear doors work well to reduce drag and double check the O2 system.

I looked all over the place for a clean garaged kept car.

At 35K new brakes are in order with new rotors (OEM are recommended).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just wanted to say hello and thank you to all who post on the site. After reading many of your posts and discussions, I pulled the trigger and purchased an "03" Carrera Coupe.
I'm completely new to Porsche, but have owned other German sports cars in the past and know that I will be much more pleased with this product. That being stated, the car I purchased has 37,000 miles on it and had the 30K service done in Oct. 2006. The last service completed was at 35,000 miles (June, 2009) and consisted of Oil Change, Coolant Flush and all fluids checked. I am very meticulous when it comes to my cars and maintenance. Can anyone recommend additional services or pointers for this car? Being new to the product I want to make sure I have done everything possible to stay on schedule or what's recommended.
Thank you again for any assistance. I'm really looking forward to all of your vast knowledge regarding these fine automobiles.
Kind regards,
Rob
I'm still figuring out how to post pics? Totally new to this. Any help on posting? I've tried to post a few pics and it keeps telling me upload failed?
At the bottom of your post, there is a button "Manage Attachments". (You may have to "Go Advanced"). Hit that then hit a "Browse" button, and search the photos on your computer. Double click the photo you want. Then just hit "Upload". Preview Post before submitting to make sure it looks OK.
Quick, Tim will be here any minute.
Fantastic, thanks! I also tried to upload and it asked for my Member #? Not sure if that gets mailed to me or what? As of right now, don't have one or don't know where to look.
But i just want to ....... SING
There'll be none of that !
You got my letter... your here to save me...
Well, I, awe, I got "a letter", see I thought you were a.....
You need 2 here in Texas, but I'm going to take my chances and put the extra plate with the spare tire. If pulled over, guess I'll try to play dumb and say that there was no place to put it on the front, but I do have it officer? I'll keep you posted and let you know what my first ticket costs me
mine "excuse" was going to be...
WHAT? Damn car! man this thing! Parts just fall off it it left and right!
or
WHAT? Damn detailer must have knocked it off and not told me... I will call them and chew them out. Hope they didnt throw it out"
I'll keep that one in my back pocket too! Just saw the clean comment. I looked all over the place for a clean garaged kept car. I traveled to a few different states and when I got there, wasted my time. This one came from Houston. Got lucky! Guy had as a 3rd car and never had time to drive it. Stayed in his garage under a cover. Does the same in mine, but I drive it as much as I can. Plenty of great weather days in Dallas! I just don't want to miss any major things I should be looking out for regarding maint, etc.. Car got a great report card, but being new to the model, want to have as much knowledge as possible.
Mods, I'm not sure what was standard in "03" and what wasn't? Heated seats must have been an option, it has those. Full leather package, has a suede headliner. Not sure if that was part of the Leather package or an option on it's own? Like I said, new to the make and model. I'm sure you can tell me just by looking? I'll get there soon.
Hi GVCAP10.I can't offer much in the way of advice as i'm as new to 996's as you,but thought i'd just say hi and welcome anyway. The members i've chatted to so far seem welcoming and full of knowledge.
Back to subject.....maintenance. One thing I would definitly check out are the brakes. The brake fluid should be changed every 2 years. Over time the brake fluid breaks down by absorbing moisture. At 35K new brakes are in order with new rotors (OEM are recommended). I would also look into new plugs. My 04C4S has 35K and being 6 model years old, my indy recommended that we check out the plugs. Although the factory says changing oil every 15K, change oil/filter at least every 5k and throw in a new air filter with each oil change. Also your tires are 8 years old (probably not the rears...wear out fast) and the rubber is probably a little hard, so new tires will probably give you a better ride. Then of colurse there are the shocks, which may need to be replaced. Great cars... but high maintenance.
good point on the tires, check the MFG date and if older than about 5 years - do not drive at high rates of speed, change tires promptly !
brake fluid, good call
and watch for leaks... it has sat a long time and if you start driving it, there may be some that show up, fix promptly
Welcome to the madness.
Now... join the PCA, and get that baby to the track where it belongs!
The DFW area has two great tracks (Eagles Canyon and MSR Cresson), and Texas World Speedway is just a few hours away. PCA runs great DE events. Even if you don't become a track rat, it's worth it to learn a bit about driving your car. You'll get to wring it out a bit in a safe and responsible environment.
Congrats!
