Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2001 996 C2 and I can't figure a good way to attach the car seat in the rear of the car. I don't think this car has LATCH or at least I can't find the anchor points. The car seat fits fine and especially well after I removed the seat back cushions but the seat belt alone won't hold it in. The seat belt won't "lock" so I don't know how to keep it tight. Is there a specific place to put the locking clip so that the seat belt will stay tight? I know "search" is usually my friend but I can't find anything on this. It must be easier than I am making it because it seams like many of you have done this.

POST 2Original post

The rear seatbelts will lock up if you attach them and then reel them all the way out and let them rewind . They switch into a ratcheting mode. I believe there are anchor points threaded into the rear somewhere . I think you may have to cut the carpet to expose them Check your manual or ask your dealer.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found the rear tether anchor it looks like that has helped.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Now I got the rear tether and I got the seatbelt ratcheting to work. How do I keep the car seat from tipping side to side? For the rear passenger seat it is pretty tight on the outside (left hand turns) but is pretty tippy on the inside (right hand turns).

POST 5Original post

Is the lap portion of the belt loose? Does the base of the carseat sit flat on the seat? The seat should not rock when in place. One way I make sure that my car seat is snug is to pull the belt out, route it through the seat, and pull it to about .5 inch before th can touch the female seatbelt latch. I then will twist the belt 3x which effectively makes the lap belt portion a fixed length, and plug it into the latch. HTH,
