Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I noticed a small drop of fluid on the garage floor this morning, strangely enough in the middle-right of the car and in front of the back wheels. Upon further inspection under the car, I found a minor leak coming from what I can only describe as the shift mechanism in the manual gearbox. There is a 6 inch flat piece of metal, with round weights on each side, the pivot for which is connected into the gearbox housing (how is that for technical writing?). The pivot point is leaking. Anyone do a diy on this? Thanks in advance. Stefan

POST 2Original post

I think that you are going to find that this is not going to be a very easy DIY, as the gearbox will need to be removed and the tail cover taken off to get it taken care of. This is not the hardest thing in the world, but not something that I would recommend. Getting the tail cover back on is something of a challenge if you have never done this before. Wish I had some better news for you on this, but it is what it is I guess. Let me know if you want to get this taken care of, I will be happy to help. Depending on the miles, it may be time for a rebuild anyways. Warmest Regards, Erik Johnson GBox Performance Transaxles [phone removed] work [phone removed] cell www.gboxweb.com
