Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So the C4S has its first mystery to solve -- there is a clunking noise from the front end when I turn the wheel towards the extremities such as when I navigate parking lots and make turns from a stop. I suspect it may have something to do with the PSS10s or H&R sway bars. I contacted the PO and he thought that was just something that coil overs did. Looks like others here have experienced similar problems with PSS9s. I have a box of spare parts in the Bilstein box and it includes what look like four large rubber washers -- perhaps two from the back and two from the front. If I post a a picture, can someone confirm that this is the washer that is supposed to get installed at the top of the struts?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here are some pics of the parts: IMAGE_011.jpg IMAGE_012.jpg I haven't pulled off the wheels yet and don't have any tools beyond what's in the toolset that came with the car. Thus, no pics of the installed shocks.

I think I may have answered my own question by doing a little more searching: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...end-noise.html

POST 4Original post

Good find. I will investigate this phantom thrust bearing when my PSS10s arrive; maybe they have updated the install parts and instructions

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The rubber ring I'm holding there fits together with the metal rings in the middle of the previous picture. I think this may be the thrust rings they are talking about. I need to review because I'd hate to have the indy take apart the front end and not have the correct part at the ready. Ah, good thing I still have my wife's car for another month. Plenty o time to get the gremlins sorted out.
