After AOS run a bottle or two of Techron through engine and afterwards I like to change oil/fillter again.

Greetings! I have done the forum search till I have read some threads twice... I definitly have the oil seperator gone bad (james bond amts of white smoke, and the motor idle dies upon oil fill cap opening, strong vacum, small oil drops on garage floor). The 2001 C4 has 65k on it, what else should I have done when the mechanic is doing the oil seperator? RMS replace?, coolant tank?, hoses? Thanks in advance!

fix what needs fixin, check what needs checkin, replace what needs replacin... AOS is not a sign of any other issue, do the 60k as described, and the AOS.... once its done, if you would..... PM what they charged you for the AOS R&R... I just did one and am curious how much I saved, it's a challenge to do.

replace it while he's there. Although this requires tranny be dropped and I'm not sure this needs dropping for an AOS. If RMS done though might as well have new/improved IMS 3-ribbed end plate seal and 3 new micro-encapsulated bolts installed to help keep IMS area oil tight. If not done recently have coolant drained and refill cooling system with Porsche anti-freeze and distilled water in proper ratio. Plugs? If AOS bad chances are these are fouled and due for a change. The oiling they received will not help them. After AOS run a bottle or two of Techron through engine and afterwards I like to change oil/fillter again. Sincerely, Macster.

Thank you all for your recommendations! I will speak with the Indy on Monday to see if they concur with the AOS diagnosis and to suggest plugs etc... Will report back. Generally use Karl's Place (A porsche only joint) in Las Vegas. I know its gonna be cash out for the love of our P-car
