Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Their leather products are nice too - but I also have used Leatherique.
Leading evidence: 'Use leatherique' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean products, let me know if this link fails' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The P-car's paint is in excellent condition so for it, I use NXT Tech wax.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So we've got a few hours to kill between now and the SuperBowl, it's about 75 degrees out, and I'm thinking my car needs to be cared for. I have a bunch of car products that I bought a few years ago that have been sitting on the shelf for a while since my Subie's go through the normal cash wash. I think I'd better toss those and get some P-car suitable stuff. Any recommendations?
+1 for Ziano
Zaino Store Link
I have a bunch of Griot's Garage stuff too, its more work but gives a very good finish....
Griot's Link
and last of all Menzerna
Link to Menzerna Products
where many people claim its the easiest and best results (have not tried them)
OH... dont forget REJEX for the wheels and well, a lot of areas.. this stuff is amazing, simple, quick and looks great.
Here is a thread i posted about cleaning products, let me know if this link fails.... thread has been closed, so it might not work
cleaning question thread
Zaino all the way!!! I've rec'd their products to 3 of my p-car owning buddies and each of them were blown away by the results! Plus, it does not require using a rotary buffer... Their leather products are nice too - but I also have used Leatherique.
For those of you that have Black P-Cars, what is the best product to use?
I love Black but the color can be high maintenance to keep it looking its best. This is why I have been thinking about silver.
BUT, my P-Car will be a third car and it may be easier to keep clean.
It drives me nuts when I see a black car with spider webs and swirl marks. How difficult is it to keep a black car looking good?
Should I stick with the Zaino products for Black?
I'm pretty sure it's all Walmart grade. Turtle wax, eagle one, some "Perma Plate" stuff for the Subie.
I'll check out the other suggestions made here. Rejex sounds like a good place to start.
I use Meguiar's products. Meguiar's clay bar, Meguiar's Scratch-X to spot remove scratches, Meguiar's Color-X to remove swirls / polish / wax, and Meguiar's NXT Tech wax. The P-car's paint is in excellent condition so for it, I use NXT Tech wax. For my daily driver, I will use Color-X for a while, then switch to NXT Tech wax. All off the shelf from AutoZone.
For the interior, Meguiar's interior wipes for vinyl and plastic pieces, Meguiar's leather cleaner/conditioner wipes for leather seats.
I also use a Porter-Cable 7424 to apply.
Scratch-X, Color-X, and Plast-X (plastic polish) should be applied w/ "passion" (and pref by hand) for best results.

For black, you can't beat Ultima products.
They do a very good single stage polish (Paint Prep Plus) and the easiest sealant to apply ever (Paint Guard Plus)
The PPP takes out the swirls and light scratches easily, leaving a super smooth finish.
I use a porter cable, but you can polish by hand if you like.
Then the sealant (PGP) goes on with a MF applicator - single application just takes 10 minutes - simply wipe on and leave to cure.
Here's the result:
Can't beat the result and ease of use.

How often do you detail the vehicle to keep it looking like that? Is it a daily driver?
What are your recommendations?
My P-Car will get use and it not going to be a garage queen. At the same time it will not be my daily driver. I live in Cleveland and winters here are not fun.
I am not familiar with Ultima products per se, but I will say the key to great results is in the prep. It has less to do with "products" and more to do with appropriate application.
That being said...Zaino lasts a very long time. The big decision in products is between polymer sealants vs. carnubas...once you've made this choice there are lots of products to choose from and just as many opinions as to which is better. Check out autopia.com for opinions....
Twice a year is enough - between that, just wash and dry.
The red 986 is a daily driver, and had two coats of sealant.
It has been over a year since it was done, and it still looks good.
However, once every 6 months should be plenty.
Just FYI the 986 in the pictures is a '99 with over 90,000 miles on original paint - so this stuff is not just for new cars.
My bucket of Zaino products arrived today. Looks like a good project for this weekend. I bought a new camera last weekend and will post pics of the results.
Take your time on prep. removing old waxes, clay bar, paint prep. then layer, layer, layer... (like AIO, Z-5pro, Z-2Pro with z-6 or Z-8 in between each layer...)
well, my car isn't really like cdodkin's but at 80k miles. I'm not obsessive really and I just use off the shelf stuff like Merzena. Do this about once a year.
