I have run Pirellis on my Boxster and 996 and found them to be very noisy and harsh as they wear.

Being a performance car I have to figure all 4 get an alignment any time new rubber or a change of tire model.

Suggestion
When the footprint (contact patch) is distortred and larger than it was designed to be from running too little air, wear is accelerated and uneven due to scrubbing rather than rolling.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know it's common for the rears to wear faster, and especially on the inside, but are the bumps/ridges on them normal? I think it might be a shock issue?
When I got the PPI in Cali last Friday they were 80%, now the inner sides are almost going to be bald. I could still see the groves but it's progressing for the worst.
and the ridges every 3cm apart are making an annoying sound of course...
Could it be a shock, camber or wheel bearing issue?
yes
since the car is new to you shoot a pic of from the back of the car so we can see the camber....also from the side (ride height)
what tires, what presure, what driving habits, what is the date of MFG of the tires
If not tracked, excessive inside wear is probably caused by too much negative camber, too much toe-in, too low ride height (which adds to negative camber).

cupping is normally from bad joints in the suspension. I'll just say take it to a dealer where they know what's right and better yet know the rear gets realigned. Being a performance car I have to figure all 4 get an alignment any time new rubber or a change of tire model.
I will take pics tomorrow morning in the light!
fbgh20, We can meet up Sunday if you have time, I will pm you tomorrow when I post pics of this situation. I'm leaning towards a shock problem but you never know...
I'm also searching for new tires, I know they are Pirelli's but I didn't look at the exact sizes yet. Once new tires are on you better believe that I will be balancing and doing a 4 wheel alignment!
bumps and ridges are known as scalloping. This is caused by under inflation. With too little air the footprint of the tire is distorted as it's the air in the tire that supports the cars weight. When the footprint (contact patch) is distortred and larger than it was designed to be from running too little air, wear is accelerated and uneven due to scrubbing rather than rolling. When observed around the circumference of the tire this wear will develop steps that drop off with the channeling or grooving of the tread pattern. This can be reversed by running the proper inflation pressures.
To assure good handling an alignment should be done by a qualified tech. Aligning these cars for ultimate handling will result in severe inboard tire wear. For street use it will become a tradeoff, and usually negative camber will be minimized. Neutral camber will result in even wear.
The tires were set to their spec psi limit upon inspection. I have not checked them since but just by viewing them, they look alright.
I will try looking for the same pirelli's to match the fronts. Once I get new tires I will get a 4 wheel alignment.
Hopefully that will fix the problem.
I attached some pics for you guys to see... I will also check tire pressure when I go back out there..
The tires i'm running on the rears are Pirelli P-Zero

Your rears are just about done. Pirelli's are on sale at CDN Porsche dealers until the end of the month. It works out to a rebate of $195 for a set. Go see Matt (service advisor) or Chris (parts) at Mark Motors and they'll set you up.
As others have said, get a full alignment too.
Wear looks pretty even and normal aside from a bit of cupping or scalloping from having run a bit low sometime, not necessarily very recently though. I have run Pirellis on my Boxster and 996 and found them to be very noisy and harsh as they wear. I just bought a second set of Sumis HTRZ ll for the 996 right before I sold it and talking with the owner, he loves the look and feel of the new tires as well.
Ok will do. do you think they would have the same tires that I'm currently running? I'll look into it tomorrow and get a proper alignment upon install.
