I don't have a problem with the roll bar being in place all the time as long has the roll bar is the Porsche Club (where people can still sit in the back) but I don't want to change my beautiful Sport seats.

I want to fit 4/5 or 6 point harness and door net but for track use 3 or 4 times a year therefore I'm looking for something easily removable.

How about you buy one GT3 seat for the drivers side and use the 3 pointer.

but now you're saying that...I was told once that to use harnesses you needed seats with holes in them to guide the belts and avoid them from sliping from your shoulder leaving you in trouble UNLESS you had a harness guide bar which I think Brey-Krause has them.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm looking for solutions! I want to fit 4/5 or 6 point harness and door net but for track use 3 or 4 times a year therefore I'm looking for something easily removable. I'm also thinking on fittindg a Porsche roll bar (those where you can still sit people there)...
Thanks in advance
Even the Das roll bar is not that easy to remove, actually my mechanic said he had to hammer it in place and doubts whether it can be removed at all. Sorry Kiko, I don't think there is any roll bar out there that can be removed easily that will make use of the rear seats. There are harness bars available like the BK harness bar's that are easily removable, but most don't like the idea of wearing a harness with no roll bar in case of roll overs. I went with the DAS roll bar/gt3 seat/ schroth 6 point harness from DEVEK, but i don't have any use for the rear seats. You may want to do a search on this in the Racing forum under Perf. & Comp., there are some good discussions on these topics.

Is there a an "harness fitting kit" which might be relatively easy to fit and remove with this combo?
Please share your experiences and best solutions for this case.
Thank you very much.
I am not aware of any roll bars for 996 that can be installed and still have the rear seats usable, not even the porsche bar....using the sports seats for 5/6 point harness is again a compromise, I personally would not do it, if you are not will ing to go all the way, I'll stick to the 3-point and just lock it up (slide the seats back, jerk the shoulder belts to lock it and move the seats forward). Having gone full monty myself, I acn say there is no substitute.
I'm with Jeeva. Porsche has two bars, one with a higher roll bar and no cross brace and one which is lower and has braces. the latter permits use of a harness, the former does not. Use of a harness with sport seats is not a great idea either. How about you buy one GT3 seat for the drivers side and use the 3 pointer. Great support and comfort in the GT3 seat and it holds you very well Passengers get in via the passenger side to get to the back.
The sport seats are not compatible with harnesses??? I never realized that... but now you're saying that...I was told once that to use harnesses you needed seats with holes in them to guide the belts and avoid them from sliping from your shoulder leaving you in trouble UNLESS you had a harness guide bar which I think Brey-Krause has them. I was thinking of the following combo:
Porsche Roll bar (without cross bar)
Porsche OEM Sport seat
Harness guide bar (from BK ??)
5 point harness (attached to the rear seat's buckes
Am I crazy? I probably am but that's why I'm asking you guys for advise...
P.S Jeeva, If can't do it my way, I'll certainly follow your tip!!! Seems a lot better than nothing, Cheers!
I've seen someone with a tequipment roll bar(without cross bar) and a fabricated cross bar with a stainless c clamp on each side. I have the same bar and I have asked a few people to fabricate a cross bar so I can attach a harness. The cross bar will clamp onto the front legs of the roll bar and can be taken out when you want to stuff someone in the back seat. One note, once you have the roll bar installed, there is even less sitting area in the rear.
mellowyellow,
do you plan on using a 5 point with it? Are you using normal seats? Which kind of hardware can be used to attached the other anchoring points?
Yes Kiko, I plan on using a point harness in the near future with a fabricated cross bar that will clamp across the front legs of my tequipment bar. I just put in a pair of GT3 cloth seats about a month ago, and boy, what a difference the seats make. They almost make my car seem to handle better. I also couldn't believe how much heavier the stock electric seats are compared to the GT3 seats. The sport seats are good, but it's night/day compared to GT3 seats. And by the way, once the GT3 seats go in, no one goes into the back because the seats don't tilt forward and do not slide far enough to the front to let anyone into the back unless they are a tiny kid. Mooty is right, it's never a good idea to have passengers in the rear if you have a rollbar.
