After I installed the new ones I sent the rubber ones back to Eric.

I just installed painted bumperettes on my 04 996TT cab and I'm mechanically challenged (I'm a statistician).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I'm a new member with a 02 C4S (Seal Grey/Black). I've been reading the post frequently and am finally posting.
I'm wondering how difficult it is to switch out my rear bumperettes for ones from bumperplug.com. I've noticed quite a few of you are very proficient with a wrench and have some impressive mods. I just ordered the aluminum guage rings and am looking forward to switching the bumperettes out. Any help will be appreciated.
Removing the bumperettes is really easy. All you need is a fairly long metric hex wrench. #6 if I remember correctly. There is a hole on the bottom of the bumperette to access the screw that bolts it into place.
Welcome to the forum. Now how about posting some pics?
I'm planning on taking so pics this coming weekend. Thanks for the quick response. Do I lift the flaps on the bottom of the bumperettes? They don't seem too flexible. I'm afraid I'll crack or break it.
Be carefull. Some of the newer model 996 have redesigned bumperettes. They do not attach in the same manner (from the underside of the bumperette). The bumperettes on my '02 attach internally and I was told that I would need to remove the bumper to access them.
Just an fyi.
Thanks Ray. Good catch.
Sorry Neighbor. I missed the fact that you had an '02. When you said "flap" I thought "hmmm, I don't remember there being a flap."
I am sure Eric from BumperPlugs.com has instructions.
Neighbor - Welcome the the Forum also known as the Porsche Phunny Pharm. It will be great if you post some before pisc and later some after pics, 'cuz... we LOVE pics!
I just installed painted bumperettes on my 04 996TT cab and I'm mechanically challenged (I'm a statistician). It was very easy. The rubber ones have a flap on the bottom, just stick a flathead srew driver in and pry it out. You will need a long metric wrench and I needed a flashlight to see what I was doing. Got mine from Eric and he sent them painted. After I installed the new ones I sent the rubber ones back to Eric. They look great!
Thanks Statman! So they pop out I take it? How does the painted one slip on? Via screw on or press on? I've got to call Eric. Gota911, pics-a-comin, promise. Mine's pretty tame now with only cf shift ****, but being on the board makes me want more. guage rings and C4S mats on the way.

'02 C4S uses the Turbo bumperettes. Quick on/off, #6 allen bolt. We send instructions when we send your new painted ones, you install them and send the cores back. Piece of cake.
