I used Autobahn, their other shop, for a PPI and had a good experience.

If you have had your car serviced at Autoengineering (BOSTON AREA) YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR OIL CHANGED IMMEDIATLY!!!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The tech that worked there quit when he discovered what was happening so on top of this they no longer have a Porsche tech.
We have been duped!! Help me get the word out! If you have had your car serviced at Autoengineering (BOSTON AREA) YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR OIL CHANGED IMMEDIATLY!!! Turns out they have been using a very cheap semi-synthetic oil (advantage semi syn5-30) and pawning it off as MOBIL 1. This oil is known to kill engines!!!
The tech that worked there quit when he discovered what was happening so on top of this they no longer have a Porsche tech.
Help me spread the word before its too late !!
more than a few bucks< this oil is cheap!! really cheap and since they use it in all there car lines, AUDI,BMW,PORSCHE AND MERCEDES, there essentially stealing
when I bought my 86' the PO had a local shop fill it with Brad Penn (had receipt)
Brad Penn is green... always green, the oil in the car was brown.... I dont have an explanation for that one? I suppose its possible a shop would do this, but FWIW I think its unlikely and the OP has some other motive
just my .02
I would not put it past some shops.... but seriouosly.. sounds a little far fetched to me unless there was some investigation - sorry I am not a believer (yet)
No offense to the OP, but, do we REALLY know that this is what is going on? Is it possible that the tech was actually fired, and then started telling folks this? I mean it's entirely possible that this is true, but I'd prefer to see this posted based on first hand knowledge rather than what appears to be hearsay.
Does anyone have an email address for these guys I would like to send them a link to the post and allow them to defend themself... and take leagal action if this is inaccurate. If it IS accurate... What a bunch of Sissy poodles.
You have also went from suggesting them at every chance you got to someone that was local to saying they now suck.. Something smells really bad here and I am not sure it is AE
I went to their site and gave them a heads up with the link on the "contact us". They should know and have a chance to respond. I used Autobahn, their other shop, for a PPI and had a good experience.
Like Shark was saying......the OP was touting this place quite a bit. I found at least 6-7 posts (out of 51 total) steering folks to them. He was also having them sell a car of his. Sounds fishy.....Let the truth come out.
The OP's initial post, if it turns out to be sour grapes, malicious, or otherwise unsubstantiated, makes it clear once again that we should not jump to conclusions when we see these kinds of posts.
I'm glad that you guys are interested in finding the truth (or at least the other side of the story) by contacting AE.
And I still want to know how, if another brand was substituted for Mobil 1, it can "kill" an engine.
nice work guys..... hopefully they'll chime in. Like I sorta hinted, this sort of stuff is like shooting yourself in the foot, crazy that people would do that since this industry relies on word of mouth.
+1
well lets ramp up the page count then..... since Ben left, Phil selling his car, Tim finding a job, Ed is now down on his spare parts list........... and Dell buying wheel reps
.... we need an epic thread for this year. Lets drive the truth out from these guys
I'm all for it....need a few more pages before I whip the half time entertainment out. (Ed knows what I mean)
Back on subject.....I can't stand someone who has sour grapes (if thats the case) or lies or cheats. Speak ur onions or forever hold your peace. This goes for individuals and business's alike. I would like to know the relationship with the Shop and the OP. Is the Op the one in the same P-car tech that is no longer there? And who killed Colonel Mustard?
Well.. Being a business owner, 1, I cant see a shop as large as theirs doing this... That was the first thing that got me thinking.... If the shop is in fact doing this.. I hope tehy get theirs.
If the guy is simply slandering them due to a relationship gone bad.. I do hope the shop has big enough ***** to sue for slander. Disguntled employees suck and the problem is usually the employee.
Wow i didnt think you guys would jump to the defense of a sleazy shop like this. I was just tryin to get the word out so people have a chance of avioding serious damage to their engines. I guess i'll think twice about looking out for a fellow porsche owner.
I dont think, "I guess i'll think twice about looking out for a fellow porsche owner" is the problem... I think just posting some random info with no supporting data then bugging out while the thread runs a muck is the problem... we all WANT to beklieve, but have no reason to... nor to think the shop is anything but a bunch of slime *****.... there just needs to be some sort of explaination to the accusations IMO
I live in the area and have used this shop on occasion for things I can't do myself on my BMW 3 series. I have not had any problems with them and I am planning on having their Porsche tech work on my car when I finally make the leap and buy a 996.
I too would be interested in any supporting data to cause the OP to make this post. Of course it would be in the best interest for the shop to post a recent invoice for their oil purchase but that's up to them.
I googled Advantage Semi Syn oil and came up blank. If this oil is known to cause engine problems, then why are there no articles on the web about it?
I also searched for Advantage oil, and found nothing at all. So far all the OP has done is make completely unsubstantiated accusations. This is particularly interested since he previously has sung the praises of the same shop.
I live in the Boston area but have no experience with this shop. Autobahn is well known around here and I had both good and bad experiences with them but nothing horrible to speak of.
I agree that this post seems a bit suspect.
I'll have the supersized popcorn please.
