The DRL use the front fog lights, which come on at full intensity when the headlight switch is in the off & parking light position.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just had DRL (daytime running lights) installed in my '03 C4S, which was purchased in the U.S., and needs to conform to CDN regulations. It does not seem to work right. The DRL use the front fog lights, which come on at full intensity when the headlight switch is in the off & parking light position. Further, the frt. fog light symbol is lit full-time until the low-beams are activated. Is this correct? Can anyone with a CDN spec '02+ 996 with the bi-xenon headlight tell me which lights are used as DRL, its intensity, and at what point the DRL will come on while turning the ignition key toward an engine start? Rgds, Ryan

POST 2Original post

I have a 99 with the bi-xenon. When the car is on the low beams are on. When you turn the key off there is a parking type light right below the main low beam bulb that stays on until the key is removed from the ignition, but the low beams do turn off. The parking light below the low beam is a 6W bulb that kind of looks like a small flashlight bulb. I had one that burned out and it cost me $16US to replace what should have been a $1.50 bulb. Porsche was insightful enough to offset the small prongs that are on the base of the bulb so a ordinary bulb from any parts store will not fit. Kris
