Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
Rennlist: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I posted earlier when contemplating on getting a 99 C2 Cab w/ 70k miles for $22k. I've since found a deal on an 02 C4 Cab with 69k miles for $29k. Clutch, RMS and alternator changed within 3k miles and brakes within 5k miles. He also did the 60k maintenance. Front tires are new but the rears have about 50% left.
The main reason I opted to get theh C4 was that 1) AWD, as it will be my dd and I live in the Northeast. 2) Has the factory aero kit (love the subtle but sportier look) 3) it has the increase in HP & torque.
Going to get a PPI this Friday at the local Porsche dealer and if all checks out, I'll be driving it home on Friday!!! I hope $29k is a decent price. Wish me luck.
Mike
Best of luck. I too had considered an 02 but then came across a 99 with IMS done, recent soft top replacement and clutch replacement, and nicer color. And it was prices considerable lower than the 02. Each to their own. You will get the extra power ane more reliable engine. I never had a 911, so the one I have is the best to me so far.
Make sure you post pics or they'll eat u alive on here.
Congrats! Hope it all turns out well for you.
I am in the same boat. I just decided I want another one. I had a 993. But, I think I want a 996 now. In the research phase. I did find a 2001 I am looking at, but I need to find out what they've done to it. For reference, the one I am looking at is a C4, 66K miles and $24000 asking price.
Good luck! The one thing I've learned not to over-consume myself with in my search is whether this board thinks it's a "fair price." lol In my relatively short time here, I can tell you that you'll come across at least the following responses:
1) NO WAY!
2) YES, GO FOR IT!
3) Check NADA.
4) Check Excellence.
5) Define "fair." There's no such thing as "fair"; only what you agree to pay.
6) Check KBB/Edmunds/Similar Sources.
7) Don't check KBB/Edmunds/Similar Source - those numbers are inflated.
8) Ask us - we're a good resource.
All good advice in one way or another. If you've looked around, you know what the market is offering today. If you wait another month or two...or six, it might improve or stay the same...or, you might just come across the odd set of circumstances that leads to the deal of a lifetime and save a few $K...maybe...or maybe not. Your numbers seem to be in the right ballpark from what I've seen since I've been looking for the same basic car (with lower miles).

P.S. Of course, I'm the same person asking the world the same set of questions...so, I totally get your question and obsession over whether or not you've made the right decision.
