What is the widest tire that can be used on a '01 C2 with stock rims and suspension? I thought a 245/40/18 would fit but apparently it won't? Will a 235/40/18 fit? There is only a calculated height differrence of .31" between the 225s and 245s.

But you don't have stock suspension or align settings. I have seen 245's many times on NB996 but always on cars with aftermarket suspension (smaller diameter springs on adjust. perches) I've gone as far as a 275/35/18 , but also with a smaller spring and perch. And it also did rub a little on the wheel wells.

plus it's an early car which means factory fronts are 7.5' wheels. Probably best to stick with no larger than 235 width up there.

I have us m030 with 8" wide fronts and a 245/35/18 fits fine. No rub even at full lock. Handles and looks a lot better than the stock 225s also!

I wanted to go wider for autoxing. The installer said that they were rubbing the spring perch. I didn't want to risk another fiasco so I went back to the 225s.
