Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

And yes, I check my odometer to make sure no joy rides have taken place!

Of course I am still using my summer tires so this wasn't a good scenario that was setting up for me.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was in Atlanta for three days this week when inevitably the temperatures plummeted to the 20s and rain froze on the streets causing black ice. You may heard it on the news but there were literally hundreds of accidents in the city the night before last. Of course I am still using my summer tires so this wasn't a good scenario that was setting up for me.
Heading back from dinner in Buckhead to my hotel I am taking it really easy and not having any problems at all. I pull into the parking garage for my hotel and hear an awful sound coming from my car and I then sense the loss of control...
It seems the deck was completely covered in a sheet of ice so that this point the car is making all these crunching and scraping sounds and I am heading towards one of the concrete medians - all I can do is hang on for the ride.
Fortunately the PSMA (I now call it Porsche Saved My A$$) system had kicked in and slowed the car down to the point where I was now stopped. I then put the car in reverse and *very* easily pressed the throttle to get out of that situation. I also found an alternate way into the parking deck that was less slick.
Wow that was quite a situation and I'm glad I got out of it without incident!
I know when shopping for this car I was sort of put off by the electronic aids but now that this is happened I am thankful for it. Of course I
probably
could have gotten the car under control myself but who knows?
Oh and it seems valets in Buckhead like these cars as each of the last three times I've gone out to dinner in my 996 they park it right out front and like having little side conversations about the car when I pick it up from them. And yes, I check my odometer to make sure no joy rides have taken place!
I remember an Atlanta ice storm back in '85 when I was at Georgia Tech. We set up on the overpass drinking beer and holding up scorecards for the locals as they took turns spinning out on 75/85S.
I was watching the news yesterday morning and they had a story about a section of highway that was so slick that some cars were stuck there for 8 hours! Glad that wasn't me! Even driving home yesterday after all the ice had melted and the roads were just wet but even then I saw a few cars spun out on the side of the roads. What is supposed to be a 3 1/2 ride took me about 5 1/2.
I'm still on summer tires too so it was really scary!
Fortunately today I'm back in Charlotte and the temperatures are in the 50s. So aside from having a really filthy car (there was salt everywhere on the roads) all is well.
Yes they do. Last April, I stayed at the Westin (at Lenox) and the valets parked my car across from the valet stand, in a handicap space. When I asked them why they put it there, they said that they were afraid of knocking off the front spoiler, and they just liked looking at it.
The same thing happens at restaurants in the area.
Ice is no fun! That night was especially tricky. We have a Acura MDX and I have to say that I was extremely grateful for all the electronic aids. They saved my A$$ on more than one occasion.
Hope you had a successful trip to the ATL!
Well I guess it makes sense for them since it's not often you actually see a valid car parked in a handicap space! I actually stayed at the JW Marriott this time. Last time was at the Intercontinental. So they were both pretty close to the Westin you mentioned.
Yeah it was a good trip with full days but still enjoyable. We were going through vendor evaluations so essentially listening to presentations from 8am-6pm. I also caught up with a friend of mine I hadn't seen in about four years so I killed two birds with one big ice rock!
