Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'headunit' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'headunit' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean install this way' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Becker is well aware of the problem and dealers are replacing countless head units and amps to resolve.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anybody have any thoughts on the official OEM Porsche Cell Solution kit for 996?
Any comments from those who have ordered and are using it? Any idea on pricing?

My 2 worth:
I have a Nokia setup similar to that one.
The Nokia version was about $300 plus installation. The radio interrupt is nice, but with a GSM phone the audio system buzzes during conversations. Road noise makes it very difficult for the person on the other end to hear. I moved it from my M3 to my Chrysler 300 (yuck) company car when I bought my 996, and even in that car it is not good, even after several relocations of the microphone.
The 996 is way noisier than my M3 was, probably due to the 18" wheels. Assume you have the same.
It's likely that this unit is made by one of the cell phone OEMs and you'll have similar issues IMO. For my 996 I ordered a Bluetooth wireless headset. Looks a little dorky, but I believe it will work better.
I agree with Lee. I've tried many hands-free systems and almost all the microphone's are sorely lacking in quality. I've also moved towards a BT headset. I looked at the Porsche Cell Solution, but it was prohibitively expensive for what you got, so what I did was pick up a
telephone console from Gert at Carnewal
, who incidentally is a great guy to deal with. This replaces the carpeted-side-piece on the passenger side of the centre console:
With this setup, you can mount any phone mounting kit on it, and then draw power from the wiring harness behind the console. It's a very clean install this way.
I also looked into the cost, over $500 in parts including a cradle for my Moto V600 - not including installation.. I am going to pass and look at other options. Thanks for the thoughts - Rio
I got my BT headset Tuesday. It is the Plantronics M3500. It works very well, and there have been no complaints about road noise. I programmed the voice tags in my phone for my most frequently dialed numbers, so I just hold the button, release it, bark the name of the person I want to call and the rest just happens. Phone stays in my pocket.
I have a V600 and installed the Sony Erricson hands free car kit. With the cable from Harmon Kardon the music mutes and the call comes through the stereo...I love it.
I have a V60 with professional install kit interfaced to the Becker headunit. Phone works great, mic is located driver's side of the upper roof headliner area, and works well.
However, the Becker headunit is finicky, and sometimes hands off the calls after they finish, and sometimes doesn't.
Becker is well aware of the problem and dealers are replacing countless head units and amps to resolve. Mine has been replaced, but same problem exists. The PROBLEM is the HEADUNIT.
Beware, and good luck.
