I would like to replace the centercaps on my 40th anniv so that they can have a silver badge.

Has anyone else replaced their center caps and matched the finish?

The center is a darker gray (isn't it too dark to be CGT silver?), and the lip appears to be the same silver they use on the Carrera 5-spokers.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I would like to replace the centercaps on my 40th anniv so that they can have a silver badge. The finish on theses wheels is unique. Has anyone else replaced their center caps and matched the finish?

"The 40th caps are available for $59.95 each. They are polished with a full color crest." No silver crest option available.
Does anyone know for sure what color paint these wheels are?
Is it possible to convert the regular 5-star rims to the polished-aluminum look? or is this totally impossible... the last thing I want is the "chrome" look...
cheers
Pete
I have seen a few 40th editions at my local dealer and the wheels are not painted. Looked like polished metal to me with a clear coat. They all had colored center caps. Since this was a special edition with certain standard stuff, there is no reason to make 2 different matching caps as the raised crested caps were not an option.

The Boxster anniversary edition wheels are actually two-color, fwiw. The center is a darker gray (isn't it too dark to be CGT silver?), and the lip appears to be the same silver they use on the Carrera 5-spokers. There's one at work I ogle all the time, and I considered the same treatment for my C5s.

"Peter, the anniversary wheels are built by BBS and are ball polished (using stainless steel ball bearings) and then clear coated. We have sold several sets of these wheels and are quite familiar with the finish. None of the center caps exactly matches the finish of the wheels, the plastic Factory cap that comes on the 2004 996 is the worst match. These wheels come from the Factory with a chrome-look center cap that was originally used in the High Gloss Turbo-look wheel. A set of these caps is $160.00, plus shipping. We recommend using a set of earlier metal Factory caps that have been polished ($180.00 for a set of four, plus shipping) "
